Thirty-first, The Chapter on Relics. Thirty-first, The Chapter on Relics. Then, the Blessed One said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: Kauśika. If this Jambudvipa were filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, and if they were honored, revered, depicted, and offered with flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, and flags, and if this Perfection of Wisdom were given to you, which of these two would you choose? Indra replied: Blessed One, if this Jambudvipa, filled to the brim with the relics of the Tathagata, were given to me, and if this Perfection of Wisdom were written in a book and given to me, I, between these two, would choose the Perfection of Wisdom. Why is that? Blessed One, I am not disrespectful to those relics of the Tathagata. Blessed One, I am only respectful. I should not fail to honor, revere, depict, or offer to the relics of the Tathagata, but nevertheless, Blessed One, like this, the relics of the Tathagata arise from this Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, they should be honored, revered, depicted, and offered. The relics of the Tathagata are completely blessed by the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, the relics of the Tathagata have obtained offerings. Then, the venerable Shariputra said to the Lord of the Gods, Indra: Kauśika. This Perfection of Wisdom is ungraspable, unteachable, unobstructed. Like this, it is without characteristics, it is of one characteristic. If so, the Perfection of Wisdom is ungraspable, unteachable, unobstructed, like this, it is without characteristics, it is of one characteristic, how do you accept it?

Alas! Why is that? Because the Perfection of Wisdom does not exist for the sake of grasping, or not grasping, or decreasing, or increasing, or subtracting, or adding, or being completely afflicted, or being completely purified. It does not bestow the Dharmas of the Buddhas, it does not abandon the Dharmas of ordinary beings, it does not bestow the Dharmas of Bodhisattvas, nor does it bestow the Dharmas of Solitary Buddhas, nor does it bestow the Dharmas of those in training, nor does it bestow the Dharmas of those beyond training, it does not abandon the Dharmas of ordinary beings. It does not bestow the unconditioned realm, it does not abandon the conditioned realm. It does not bestow inner emptiness, up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things. It does not bestow the perfections, the mindfulnesses, the right abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the path, the eighteen unshared Dharmas of the Buddhas. It does not bestow all-knowingness, therefore! Indra said: Venerable Shariputra, it is so, the Perfection of Wisdom, it does not bestow the Dharmas of the Buddhas, up to all-knowingness, I also know. Why is that? Because the Perfection of Wisdom is non-dual, therefore the Perfection of Wisdom does not abide in duality. Similarly, the Perfection of Meditation, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Ethics, and the Perfection of Generosity are also, because the Perfection of Generosity is non-dual, it does not abide in duality. Then, the Bhagavan gave the word "Well done!" to the Lord of the Gods, Indra, saying: Kauśika, it is so, as you have said, well done! well done! Because the Perfection of Wisdom is non-dual, the Perfection of Wisdom does not abide in duality. Similarly, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Diligence

And, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, and the perfection of generosity are also, because the perfection of generosity is non-dual, they are not closely abiding in duality. Kausika! Whatever is considered dual in the perfection of wisdom, that is merely considering duality in the realm of Dharma. Why is that? Kausika! The realm of Dharma and the perfection of wisdom are non-dual and indivisible. Similarly, the perfection of meditation, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of generosity, and the realm of Dharma are also non-dual and indivisible. Similarly, combine them. Whatever is considered dual in the perfection of wisdom, that is merely considering duality in Suchness. That is, between the ultimate reality and the inconceivable realm, it is merely considered dual. Indra requested: Blessed One! What should a Bodhisattva Mahasattva study in order to manifest the perfection of wisdom, which will lead to the complete enlightenment of unsurpassed and perfect Buddhahood? It is a place to be revered by the world, including gods, humans, and asuras. Blessed One! When I am present in the Dharma assembly of the gods, on the seat of the Lord of the Gods, the sons of the gods come there to attend to me. When I am not present on my lion throne, those sons of the gods bow to this Dharma seat, saying: "The Lord of the Gods, Indra, sits on this Dharma seat and teaches the Dharma to the thirty-three gods." Then they depart. Blessed One! Similarly, wherever this perfection of wisdom is written, recited, or correctly taught to others, the sons of gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas who come from the ten directions will come to pay homage to this perfection of wisdom, and will
