One should not cling to the notion that form has characteristics, or that form has no characteristics. One should not cling to the notion that form has aspirations, or that form has no aspirations. One should not cling to the notion that form is secluded, or that form is not secluded. Similarly, with regard to feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, one should not cling to the notion that they are permanent, or that they are impermanent. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness is happiness, or that it is suffering. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness is self, or that it is without self. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness is peaceful, or that it is not peaceful. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness is empty, or that it is not empty. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness has characteristics, or that it has no characteristics. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness has aspirations, or that it has no aspirations. One should not cling to the notion that consciousness is secluded, or that it is not secluded. Similarly, with regard to the perfection of generosity, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom, one should not cling to the notion that they are permanent, or that they are impermanent. Similarly, apply this reasoning: with regard to the perfection of wisdom, one should not cling to the notion that it is happiness, or that it is suffering, or that it is self, or that it is without self, or that it is peaceful, or that it is not peaceful, or that it is empty, or that it is not empty, or that it has characteristics, or that it has no characteristics, or that it has aspirations, or that it has no aspirations, or that it is secluded, or that it is not secluded. Similarly, with regard to inner emptiness, one should not cling to the notion that it is permanent, or that it is impermanent. Similarly, apply this reasoning: up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things, one should not cling to the notion that it is permanent, or that it is impermanent. Up to the emptiness of the nature of non-things being empty, or being not empty, up to being secluded, or being not secluded, one should not cling. Similarly, with regard to the close placements of mindfulness, one should not cling to the notion that they are permanent, or that they are impermanent.

Similarly, he does not closely consider approaching the right abandonments, the feet of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, the noble eightfold path, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four individual perfect knowledges, the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, all samadhis, all dharani gates, and that which is called the permanence and impermanence of all-aspects-knowing. He does not closely consider approaching that which is called happiness and suffering, self and non-self, peace and non-peace, emptiness and non-emptiness, sign and signlessness, aspiration and non-aspiration, solitude and non-solitude. Shariputra, the bodhisattva mahasattva who practices the perfection of wisdom thus closely considers approaching these dharmas. Shariputra said: Subhuti, why do you say this? Blessed One, thus, whatever is the unbornness of form is not form. Whatever is the unbornness of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness is not consciousness. Similarly, whatever is the unbornness of realms, sources, dependent origination, perfections, all emptinesses, dharmas of the side of enlightenment, powers, fearlessnesses, individual perfect knowledges, samadhis, dharani gates, eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddhas, and all-aspects-knowing is not all-aspects-knowing.
