They think of the Tathāgata as coming and going, because they do not fully understand the nature of reality. Sons of good family, all those who think of the Tathāgata as coming or going are childish ordinary people. All of them will fall, are falling, and will fall into the cycle of the five destinies. All of them are far from the perfection of wisdom. All of them are far from the teachings of the Buddhas. Sons of good family, those who understand well that the Tathāgata has taught that all phenomena are like dreams do not think of any phenomenon as coming or going. Those who fully understand the nature of the Tathāgata in this way are close to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. They are those who practice the perfection of wisdom. They are disciples of the Tathāgata, and they eat the alms of the city meaningfully. They are the objects of worldly giving. Sons of good family, it is like this: for example, the jewels of the great ocean do not come from the east, nor from the south, nor from the west, nor from the north, nor from the intermediate directions, nor from above, nor from below, nor from any of the ten directions. However, due to the roots of virtue of sentient beings, jewels arise in the great ocean. These jewels do not arise without a cause, but depend on causes and conditions, and arise from interdependence. When these jewels disappear, they do not move to any of the ten directions, and there is no going. However, the jewels disappear because the conditions that cause them to arise disappear. Sons of good family, likewise, the fully complete body of the Tathāgatas does not come from any of the ten directions of the world, nor does it go anywhere. The body of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, does not arise without a cause, but depends on the accumulation of causes and conditions of the complete previous conduct, arises from causes, and appears from the maturation of previous actions, in connection with the aims of sentient beings. It is not present in any of the ten directions, but is the cause and

Those causes and conditions that, when present, cause the body to become fully complete, if those causes and conditions are absent, it will not become fully complete. Son of good family, for example, when the sound of a lute arises, it does not come from anywhere. When it ceases, it does not go anywhere, nor does it transfer anywhere. This dependent arising relies on causes and conditions. For example, the sound of a lute arises in dependence on the body of the lute, the skin, the neck, the strings, the pick, the bridge, and human effort. The sound does not arise from the body of the lute, nor from the skin, the neck, the strings, and the bridge, nor from the pick and human effort. However, when all these are gathered together, the sound arises. When the sound ceases, it does not go anywhere. Son of good family, likewise, the fully complete body of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, also relies on causes and conditions, and is perfected from many roots of virtue. It does not arise from a single cause, nor does it arise from a single condition. The body of the Buddha does not arise from a single root of virtue. Nor does it arise from no cause, but it arises from the gathering of many causes and conditions, and it does not come from anywhere. If the causes and conditions are not gathered, it does not go anywhere either. Son of good family, in this way you should view the coming and going of the Thus-Gone Ones. Son of good family, you should likewise understand the suchness of all dharmas. Son of good family, if you thoroughly understand that the Thus-Gone Ones and all dharmas are without arising and without ceasing, you will definitely attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and you will also definitely practice the skillful means of the Perfection of Wisdom. When this Dharma discourse, which shows that the Thus-Gone Ones have no coming and no going, was spoken, the great earth shook violently. The entire realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world system also shook in six ways, shook violently, shook universally violently, quaked, quaked violently, quaked universally violently. All the abodes of the maras were also disturbed and decayed. The three-thousand great-thousand world system of
