Chapter Seventy-Five Chapter Seventy-Five Having spoken thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Dharmadhika spoke these words to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Sadāprarudita: "Son of good family, the Tathāgatas do not come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere. The Tathāgatas are immovable. Whatever is Suchness, that is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, that which is unborn has no going or coming. That which is unborn is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no coming or going in the ultimate reality. The ultimate reality is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no going or coming in emptiness. Emptiness is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no coming or going in Suchness. Suchness is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no coming or going in detachment from desire. Detachment from desire is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no coming or going in cessation. Cessation is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, there is no coming or going in the sphere of space. The sphere of space is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, other than these dharmas, there is no Tathāgata. Son of good family, whatever is the Suchness of these dharmas, and whatever is the Suchness of the Tathāgata, those are the same Suchness. Son of good family, in Suchness there are no two aspects. Son of good family, Suchness is one, not two, not three. Son of good family, thus Suchness, because it does not exist, is beyond enumeration. Son of good family, for example, a person oppressed by the heat of the spring sun at noon in the last month of spring sees a mirage shimmering, and runs to and fro, thinking, 'I will bathe here, I will drink water here.' Son of good family, what do you think? Where does that water come from? From the great ocean of the east, or from the oceans of the south, west, or north? Where does it go?" Sadāprarudita said:

Son of good family, there is no water in a mirage, how can there be coming and going in it? Son of good family, that person who is tormented by the heat of spring, because he generates the perception of water in a waterless mirage, is of the kind of children, of the kind of dull-witted. There, the nature of water does not exist. Dharmodgata said: Son of good family, it is just so, it is just so. Son of good family, likewise, whoever clings to the Tathagata as form or sound, those who conceive that the Tathagata comes and goes, all those are of the kind of children, of the kind of dull-witted. It should be said that it is like a person generating the perception of water in a waterless place. Why is that? Because the Tathagata is the Dharmakaya, so he is not to be seen as the Rupakaya. Son of good family, in the nature of Dharma there is no going or coming. Son of good family, likewise, for the Tathagatas also there is no coming or going. Son of good family, for example, in the hosts of elephants, or hosts of horses, or hosts of chariots, or hosts of infantry, conjured by a magician, there is no coming or going. Son of good family, likewise, for the Tathagatas also there is no coming or going. Son of good family, for example, in a person's dream, if he sees one Tathagata, or two, or three, or four, or five, or ten, or twenty, or thirty, or forty, or fifty, or a hundred, or a thousand, or a hundred thousand, or even more than that, and upon awakening, he does not see even one Tathagata, son of good family, what do you think? From where did those Tathagatas come? Where did those Tathagatas go? Sadāprarudita said: Son of good family, the dharmas of dreams are not at all completely established. Dreams are false, they are not true. Dharmodgata said: Son of good family, likewise, the Tathagata has said that all dharmas are like dreams. Son of good family, whoever does not understand well that all dharmas are like dreams, as taught by the Tathagata, those who cling to the Tathagata as the aggregate of name or the aggregate of form, those are the Tathagata
