and aspiration, non-aspiration, and direct knowledge, as well as samadhi, and the doors of dharani, are neither combined nor separated. What is the reason for this? It is because, in this way, whatever is combined or separated, the doors of dharani, etc., are without intrinsic nature. The ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love and great compassion, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha, etc., are neither combined nor separated. What is the reason for this? It is because, in this way, whatever is combined or separated, the unmixed qualities of the Buddha, etc., are without intrinsic nature. The question: O Blessed One, if there is no intrinsic nature in any dharma that can be combined or separated, then how can the perfection of wisdom, which the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should study, be manifestly accomplished? Without studying the perfection of wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva cannot manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, it is so, it is so. As you have said, without studying the perfection of wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva cannot manifestly and completely awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, but this is through skillful means, not through unskillful means. Sharadvatiputra, if the Bodhisattva Mahasattva When practicing the perfection of wisdom, if any dharma has no intrinsic nature, then there will also be clinging because of that. However, if it is non-apprehensible, then what is there to grasp? This is form, this is feeling, this is perception, this is formation, this is consciousness. These are the sense bases, the elements, and dependent origination. These are the perfections, all emptiness, and the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment. These are the noble truths, as well as meditation and the immeasurables, as well as the formless absorptions, as well as liberation, as well as the successive abidings, as well as emptiness, as well as signlessness, as well as non-

Without stain and, clairvoyance and, samadhi and, the doors of dharani, etc. These are the ten powers of the Tathagata and, the four fearlessnesses and, the four analytical knowledges and, great love and, great compassion and, the unique qualities of a Buddha, etc. What should be grasped as the limit of this very omniscience? Shariputra, the perfection of wisdom is ungraspable. The perfection of meditation and, the perfection of diligence and, the perfection of patience and, the perfection of ethics and, the perfection of generosity are ungraspable. All emptiness and, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment are ungraspable. The noble truths and meditation and, the immeasurables and, the formless absorptions and, liberation and, the successive abidings in absorption and, Emptiness and signlessness and, wishlessness and, clairvoyance and, samadhi and, the doors of dharani are ungraspable. The ten powers of the Tathagata and, the four fearlessnesses and, the four analytical knowledges and, great love and, great compassion and, the eighteen unique qualities of a Buddha are ungraspable. Shariputra, that is the ungraspable perfection, thus is the perfection of wisdom. Therein a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should train, and if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains therein does not even perceive the training, what need to mention the perfection of wisdom? What need to mention enlightenment? What need to mention the dharmas of enlightenment? What need to mention the dharmas of the Buddha? What need to mention the dharmas of a solitary Buddha? What need to mention the dharmas of a Hearer? What need to mention the dharmas of ordinary beings? Why is that? Shariputra, because thus, no dharma has any essence. Thus, in the essence of all dharmas being without entity, what is the dharma of an ordinary being? What is an enterer of the stream? A once-returner and, a non-returner and, the state of an Arhat.
