If one conceives of things as existing, or if one does not conceive of things as not existing, then is there even a trace of memory? What need is there to speak of being separated from memory? Furthermore, Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, having taken hold from the moment of first generating the mind, practices the Perfection of Wisdom, if he wishes to perfect the path of gradual practice, gradual learning, and gradual entry, then with a mind endowed with all-aspects-knowing, in the manner of the self-nature of non-existence of things, he should train in the Perfection of Giving. He should also train in the Perfection of Morality, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Meditation, and the Perfection of Wisdom. He should train in inner emptiness. He should train in outer emptiness, inner-outer emptiness, and up to the emptiness of the self-nature of non-existence of things. He should train in the mindfulnesses. He should train in the right abandonments, the legs of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the path. He should train in the noble truths, meditation, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness samadhi, clairvoyance, samadhi, the doors of dharani, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the fearlessnesses, the separate perfect knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddha. He should train up to all-aspects-knowing. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who trains in the self-nature of non-existence of all dharmas has gradual practice, has gradual learning, and has a path of gradual entry. Because that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva trains in gradual practice, gradual learning, and the path of gradual entry, in the manner of the self-nature of non-existence of things, the Perfection of Giving

is completely fulfilled. By way of the nature of non-entity, the perfection of generosity, the perfection of discipline, the perfection of patience, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of meditation, and the perfection of wisdom are completely fulfilled. It is completely fulfilled up to the attainment of omniscience. That is, all dharmas will be manifestly and perfectly awakened into buddhahood in the nature of non-entity. If there is no entity in that, then is there form, feeling, perception, formation, consciousness, the sense bases, the elements, the dependent origination, the perfections, all emptiness, the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, the noble truths, the meditations, the immeasurables, the formless absorptions, the liberations, the successive abidings of absorption, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, the superknowledges, the samadhis, the gateways of dharanis, the powers of the Thus-Gone One, the fearlessnesses, the analytical knowledges, the great love, the great compassion, the unshared dharmas of the Buddha, or the existence up to omniscience, or how could there be the wisdom of omniscience? That is without a place. When this was said, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, if all dharmas are of the nature of non-entity, then there is no form, no feeling, no perception, no formation, and no consciousness. There are no sense bases, no elements, and no dependent origination. There are no limbs of dependent origination. There are no perfections, all emptiness, and no dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment. There are no noble truths, no meditations, no immeasurables, no formless absorptions, no liberations, and no successive abidings.

There is also no giving, no emptiness, no signlessness, no wishlessness, no clairvoyance, no samadhi, no dharani gate, no power of the Tathagata, no fearlessness, no individual correct awareness, no great love, no great compassion, and no unmixed qualities of the Buddha. Even the wisdom of all-knowingness is absent. There is also no Buddha, no Dharma, and no Sangha. There is also no path, no fruit. There are also no afflictions, and no purification. There is also no attainment, and no realization. Are all phenomena also absent? The Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? Do you think that all phenomena, in the essence of non-existence, have something that can be targeted as existing or not existing? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, that is not the case. In the essence of non-existence, all phenomena, whether existing or not existing, cannot be targeted. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, then why do you think that way? If all phenomena are of the essence of non-existence, then form is also absent. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are also absent. The sense bases, elements, and dependent origination are also absent. The perfections, all emptinesses, and the qualities conducive to enlightenment are also absent. The noble truths and the meditations, the immeasurables and the formless absorptions, the liberations and the gradual abidings in absorption, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, clairvoyance and samadhi, the dharani gates and the powers of the Tathagata, fearlessness and individual correct awareness, great love and great compassion, and the unmixed qualities of the Buddha are also absent. Even the wisdom of all-knowingness is absent. The Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha are also absent. The path is also absent, the fruit is also absent, afflictions are also absent, and purification is also absent. Attainment is also absent, and realization is also absent. All phenomena are also absent. Do you think so? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, I
