Chapter Fifty-Nine. Chapter Fifty-Nine. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if for one who has the perception of things as such, even the acceptance of conformity does not exist, how much less is there attainment, there is none. How much less is there direct realization, there is none, what then? Blessed One, for one who has the perception of the non-existence of things, acceptance of conformity, or the place of seeing the white, or the place of lineage, or the eighth place, or the place of seeing, or the place of thinning, or the place of detachment from desire, or the place of having done what is to be done, or the place of the solitary Buddha, or the place of the Bodhisattva, or the place of the Buddha, relying on which path of cultivation, and obscured by which afflictions, the faults of the Bodhisattva will not fall into, and the faults of the Bodhisattva will not not fall into, will not attain omniscience, and without attaining omniscience, the obscuration of not abandoning all the afflictions that connect with habits, is there a path to abandon those afflictions that possess the Hearer or possess the Solitary Buddha?" Blessed One, if any dharma that is to be born does not arise, how can one attain omniscience without generating those dharmas? The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, it is so, it is so. For one who has the perception of the non-existence of things, there is no acceptance of conformity. There is no place of direct realization. There is no place of seeing the white. There is no place of lineage. There is no eighth place. There is no place of seeing. There is no place of thinning. There is no place of detachment from desire. There is no place of having done what is to be done. There is no place of the solitary Buddha. There is no place of the Bodhisattva. There is no place of the Buddha. Relying on which path of cultivation, and obscured by which afflictions, the faults of the Bodhisattva will not fall into, and the faults of the Bodhisattva will not not fall into, will not attain omniscience, and without attaining omniscience, the obscuration of not abandoning all the afflictions that connect with habits, possessing the Hearer or possessing the Solitary Buddha.
