Or, there is no perception of reality. For whom there is no perception of reality and no perception of non-reality, that is the endurance that accords with the bodhisattva mahasattva. For whom there is no perception of reality and no perception of non-reality, that is the cultivation of the path. For whom there is perception of reality and no perception of non-reality, that is the fruit. Subhuti, the path of the bodhisattva mahasattva is without reality, and realization is also without reality. Subhuti, in this way, too, all dharmas should be known to be of the nature of non-reality. Petition: Blessed One, if all dharmas are of the nature of non-reality, Blessed One, how did the Tathagata become perfectly enlightened to all dharmas as being of the nature of non-reality? Having become perfectly enlightened, they attained mastery over the realm of mastery over all dharmas. After so petitioning, the Blessed One said this to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, here, when I formerly practiced the conduct of a bodhisattva, practicing the six perfections, I dwelt, having closely cultivated the first dhyana, which is secluded from desire, secluded from sinful unwholesome dharmas, accompanied by thought and examination, and having joy and bliss born of seclusion. I dwelt, having closely cultivated up to the fourth dhyana. However, I did not grasp the signs of those dhyanas and those limbs of dhyana, I was not haughty because of those dhyanas, I did not taste the flavor of dhyana, I did not focus on dhyana, and thus I placed those dhyanas in a completely pure state. Thus, having ripened those dhyanas, I directed my mind to manifest the knowledge of the divine eye. I directed my mind to manifest the knowledge of the divine ear. I directed my mind to manifest the knowledge of others' minds. I directed my mind to manifest the knowledge of the recollection of past lives. The knowledge of the divine eye manifested.

In order to do this, the mind is focused. However, I hold those manifest realizations as signs, and do not know through those manifest realizations, do not experience them, do not make them objects of focus. By remembering those five manifest realizations as being like the sky, I remain in equipoise. Thus, with wisdom endowed with a single instant, I become perfectly enlightened in unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. This is suffering. This is the origin of suffering. This is the cessation of suffering. This is the path that leads to the cessation of suffering. Thus, I have fully understood as it is. Thus, I have become endowed with the ten powers of the Tathagata, endowed with the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the unshared qualities of a Buddha, and I have prophesied the three aggregates for sentient beings. The venerable Subhuti asked: "Lord, how does the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened One, generate the four dhyanas of the nature of non-substantiality? How does he directly know the six perfections, as well as the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha? And how does he prophesy the three aggregates for non-sentient beings?" The Lord replied: "Subhuti, if desires and sinful, unwholesome dharmas had substance, had self-nature, or had other-nature, Subhuti, when I formerly practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva, knowing desires to be of the nature of non-substantiality, and sinful, unwholesome dharmas to be of the nature of non-substantiality, I would not have cultivated and abided in the four dhyanas. Subhuti, because desires and sinful, unwholesome dharmas are without substance, without self-nature, without other-nature, otherwise they would be the self-nature of non-substantiality. Subhuti,
