Should be known as the teacher of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Knowing the aspect of the path is the path. Knowing the aspect of the path is the light. Knowing the aspect of the path is the lamp. It is intelligence. It is knowledge. It is wisdom. Knowing the aspect of the path is a friend. Knowing the aspect of the path is refuge. Knowing the aspect of the path is protector. Knowing the aspect of the path is mother. Knowing the aspect of the path is father. Knowing all aspects eliminates all connections of habitual tendencies. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, these thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, all the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones of the past, all those Buddhas, Bhagavat, were also father and mother. Subhuti, these thirty-seven factors of enlightenment will also become father and mother to all the Buddhas, Bhagavat, who will arise in the future as Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones. Subhuti, these thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are also father and mother to all the Buddhas, Bhagavat, who now reside and maintain life in the ten directions of the world. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, from this arise the Buddhas, Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present. Therefore, Subhuti, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who desire to be manifestly and perfectly awakened into unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, and who desire to purify the Buddha-fields, and who desire to fully ripen sentient beings, should fully gather sentient beings with the four objects of gathering. What are the four? Giving, pleasing speech, Meaningful conduct, and accordance with meaning. Subhuti, having seen that power of meaning, I say this: These thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are the teacher, mother, and father of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas.

And, it is an army, relatives, refuge, and protector! Thus it is said. Subhuti, therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, wishing to not rely on others, wishing to abide in not relying on others, wishing to cut off the doubts of all sentient beings, wishing to completely purify the Buddha-fields, and wishing to completely ripen sentient beings, should train in this Prajnaparamita. Why is that? Those dharmas that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva should train in are extensively taught in this Prajnaparamita. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, what is the nature of Prajnaparamita? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, the nature that is uncreated like the sky is Prajnaparamita. Subhuti, the nature of Prajnaparamita is non-existence, because Prajnaparamita has no nature whatsoever. Asked: World Honored One, by what nature, does the nature of Prajnaparamita exist, and is there such a way that all dharmas exist by that nature? The World Honored One replied: Subhuti, it is just so. It is just so, by whatever nature, the existing nature of Prajnaparamita exists, by that nature, all dharmas exist. Why is that? Subhuti, all dharmas are empty of inherent existence, all dharmas are empty of all dharmas. All dharmas are empty of all dharmas. Subhuti, in this way, with the nature of emptiness, with the nature of solitude, by whatever nature the existing nature of Prajnaparamita exists, by that nature all dharmas exist. Subhuti asked: World Honored One, if all dharmas are empty of all dharmas, and all dharmas are empty of all dharmas, then how will the defilement and purification of sentient beings exist? World Honored One, emptiness will not become defilement, nor will it become purification. Emptiness will not become defilement, nor will it become purification. Emptiness and emptiness are…
