the ten powers are not fully perfected. Without the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a buddha, great love, and great compassion being fully perfected, the limit of what is correct is not manifested. At that time, even though a bodhisattva mahāsattva abides in the samādhi of the doors to liberation—emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness—the limit of what is correct is not manifested until he or she has manifestly awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, complete awakening. Furthermore, Subhūti, a bodhisattva mahāsattva thinks, "For a long time, these sentient beings have been engaging with objects of focus, namely, engaging with 'self,' 'sentient being,' 'life,' 'goer,' 'nourisher,' 'person,' 'individual,' 'powerful one,' 'lord of power,' 'agent,' 'feeler,' 'knower,' or 'seer'; or with 'form'; or with 'feeling,' 'perception,' 'formation,' or 'consciousness'; or with 'sense field'; or with 'element'; or with 'dependent arising'; or with the perfections; or with the emptinesses; or with the qualities of a limb of awakening; or with the noble truths, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, or formless absorptions; or with the liberations and the progressive abidings in meditative stabilization; or with emptiness, signlessness, or wishlessness; or with extrasensory perception, meditative stabilization, or the gateways of mantra; or with the ten powers of a tathāgata, fearlessnesses, or analytical knowledges; or with great love and great compassion; or with the unshared qualities of a buddha." Since they engage with objects of focus, I must, by all means, manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete awakening and then eliminate those faults of the objects of focus of sentient beings. Subhūti, by being endowed with such an intention and by skillfully engaging with the perfection of wisdom, he or she perfects the ten powers of a tathāgata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen

Without fully perfecting the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, great love, and great compassion, one will not realize the ultimate limit of reality. At that time, the bodhisattva mahasattva will fully perfect the meditation on the three doors to liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he thinks: "These sentient beings have long been accustomed to engaging with signs, such as the sign of a woman, or the sign of a man, or the sign of form, or the sign of feeling, perception, formation, or consciousness, or the sign of the sense bases, elements, or dependent arising, or the sign of the perfections, all emptiness, the factors of enlightenment, or even the unshared qualities of a Buddha, up to the sign of all-knowingness. They are accustomed to engaging with signs. How can I possibly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment and purify these faults of sentient beings?" Possessing such a mind of awakening, he skillfully practices the Perfection of Wisdom, and without fully perfecting the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, great love, and great compassion, one will not realize the ultimate limit of reality. At that time, the bodhisattva mahasattva will fully perfect the meditation on the three doors to liberation: emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. Furthermore, Subhuti, when a bodhisattva mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he thinks: "These sentient beings have long been accustomed to engaging with aspirations, such as delighting in Indra, Brahma, the world protectors, and the wheel-turning king. They delight in form, they delight in feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. They delight in even all-knowingness."
