Sa so! This is the time for the perfection of discipline, the time for the perfection of patience, the time for the perfection of diligence, the time for the perfection of meditation, and the time for the perfection of wisdom. This is the time to cultivate the mindfulness. This is the time to cultivate the four right abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, the limbs of enlightenment, and the eightfold noble path. This is the time to cultivate emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. This is the time to attain the superknowledges, the samadhis, and the gateways of dharanis. This is the time to attain the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four kinds of perfect knowledge, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. This is the time to attain great love and great compassion. This is not the time to realize the fruit of stream-enterer, nor the fruit of once-returner, nor the fruit of non-returner, nor the state of Arhat. This is not the time to realize the wisdom of a solitary Buddha. This is the time not to abandon the attainment of omniscience. Thus, it should be examined. Subhuti, thus, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he should be completely familiar with emptiness and act with emptiness. He should be completely familiar with signlessness and act with signlessness. He should be completely familiar with wishlessness and act with wishlessness. He should cultivate the mindfulnesses and act with the mindfulnesses. He should cultivate the right abandonments, the miraculous feet, the faculties, the powers, and the limbs of enlightenment, and act with the limbs of enlightenment. He should cultivate the eightfold noble path, but should not realize it. Subhuti, thus, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva should be completely familiar with the dharmas that are the aspects of enlightenment.

are practicing the dharmas of the aspect of bodhi. They are acting with the dharmas of the aspect of bodhi, but they are not actualizing the fruit of stream-entry. The fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the state of arhat, and self-awakening are also not actualized. Subhuti, for example, there is a person who is brave, powerful, very steadfast, with a beautiful form, with a handsome face, pleasing to look at, possessing an excellent complexion, supremely developed, possessing excellent physical strength, holding a strong weapon, completely accomplished in all sixty-four arts, knowing how to contemplate all crafts and professions, pleasing and beloved by many beings, and whatever he does, he always has great gain, and with that gain he serves, respects, honors, and makes offerings to many people. He is very happy and joyful, delighted and comfortable, and for some reason, he takes his parents, children, and wife to a desolate forest that is frightening and terrifying to children. When that person arrives there, he gives his parents, children, and wife the gift of fearlessness: Do not be afraid! Do not be afraid! I will quickly take you from this frightening and uncomfortable desolate forest and quickly liberate you. He gives the gift of fearlessness. In that desolate forest, many enemies who want to kill that person gather near him. That person also possesses the power of excellent wisdom. He takes his parents, children, and wife out of that desolate forest, liberates them safely and without affliction, and then returns to the edge of a village, city, town, or region, arriving there unharmed, feeling happy and comfortable, and he does not hate those hostile beings in his mind. Why is that? Because that person is skilled in all the arts. He is able to conjure up other enemies who are more powerful, more numerous, more brave, and possess stronger weapons than those enemies in the desolate forest. All those enemies disappear because of that fear, and that person takes his parents, children, and wife

Having been liberated from afflictions, if there is a blissful conduct, then, Subhuti, similarly, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva dwells pervading all sentient beings with a mind focused on loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, at that time, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abides in the four immeasurables and perfects the six perfections. Having perfected them, before obtaining the exhaustion of defilements, he becomes fully familiar with all-knowingness. Abiding in the door of liberation of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, he becomes fully familiar with all-knowingness. At that time, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva does not act with signs either. He also does not manifest any state that, by manifesting the samadhi of signlessness, would cause him to abide in the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. Subhuti, it is like this, for example, a winged bird flies in the sky and does not fall to the ground. Although it abides in the open space of the sky, it does not cling to it. Subhuti, similarly, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also becomes fully familiar with emptiness, and also acts with emptiness. He becomes fully familiar with signlessness and wishlessness, and also acts with signlessness and wishlessness. He also does not manifest any state that, by manifesting emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, would cause him to fall to the ground of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha before perfecting the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great loving-kindness, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. He obtains all-knowingness by practicing immeasurable Buddha-dharmas. Subhuti, it is like this, for example, a powerful person who has become a master of archery, who is very skilled in the art of archery. He shoots an arrow into the sky, and after that arrow has been shot into the sky, he shoots another arrow continuously, so that he does not allow the first arrow to fall to the ground. How is that?
