When the noble son Śāradvatīputra, the bodhisattva mahāsattva, skillfully practices the Perfection of Wisdom, he does not think, 'I give a gift,' or 'I give such a gift to this person'; 'I keep the precepts,' or 'I keep such precepts'; 'I cultivate patience,' or 'I cultivate such patience'; 'I exert effort,' or 'I make such effort'; 'I enter into meditation,' or 'I enter into such meditation'; 'I cultivate wisdom,' or 'I cultivate such wisdom'; 'I increase merit,' or 'I increase such merit'; 'I increase so much merit'; or 'I will flawlessly accomplish the bodhisattva'; or 'I will purify the Buddha-field completely'; or 'I will fully ripen sentient beings'; or 'I will attain omniscience.' The noble son Śāradvatīputra, the bodhisattva mahāsattva, when skillfully practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, does not have such thoughts. For all such discriminations, and for emptiness of internal, emptiness of external, emptiness of both internal and external, emptiness of emptiness, great emptiness, ultimate emptiness, emptiness of conditioned, emptiness of unconditioned, emptiness beyond extremes, emptiness of beginningless and endless, emptiness of non-abandonment, emptiness of own-nature, emptiness of all dharmas, emptiness of own-character, emptiness of non-apprehension, emptiness of non-entity, emptiness of essence, emptiness of non-entity essence, there is no clinging and no arising. The noble son Śāradvatīputra, those are the skillful means of the bodhisattva mahāsattva, those are the non-clinging ones who practice the Perfection of Wisdom. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, said to the noble Subhūti, 'Venerable Subhūti.'
