One should not discriminate, saying: 'I practice in the emptiness of the internal.' 'I practice in the emptiness of the external.' 'I practice in the emptiness of both the internal and external.' 'I practice in the emptiness of the nature of non-things.' 'I practice in the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment.' 'I practice in the noble truths.' 'I practice in the concentrations, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions.' 'I practice in the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and the superknowledges.' 'I practice in the samadhis and the gateways of dharani.' One should not discriminate, saying: 'I practice in the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha.' 'I practice in the all-knowingness.' One should thus correctly teach, correctly encourage, correctly inspire, and correctly gladden. A son or daughter of good family who practices in this way should correctly teach others to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, correctly encourage, correctly inspire, and correctly gladden them. That correct teaching, that correct encouragement, that correct inspiration, and that correct gladdening, when they correctly teach, correctly encourage, correctly inspire, and correctly gladden others, will not cause wounds to arise. This is correct encouragement with the correct encouragement permitted by the Buddha. Thus, that son or daughter of good family will have completely abandoned all extremes of attachment. Then, the Blessed One gave his approval to the venerable Subhuti, saying: "Well done, Subhuti! Well done! Subhuti, it is well that you thus show the aspects of attachment to the bodhisattvas, the great beings. Well done! Well done! Subhuti, therefore,

Then I will show you an even more subtle aspect of attachment. Listen very carefully and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you. The venerable Subhuti replied, 'So be it, O Blessed One.' Then the venerable Subhuti listened to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said to him, 'Subhuti, if a son or daughter of good family has entered into the unexcelled perfect enlightenment, if they focus on the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, as a sign, Subhuti, to the extent that they focus on the sign, to that extent they are attached. Whether past, future, or present Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, who are free from all attachments, from the initial generation of their minds until the duration of the sacred Dharma, all the roots of virtue, as many as there are, if they all focus on them as signs, and after focusing on them, dedicate them to the unexcelled perfect enlightenment, Subhuti, to the extent that they focus on the signs, to that extent they are attached. Whether the Shravaka disciples of the Tathagatas, or other sentient beings who are not Shravakas, all the roots of virtue, as many as there are, if they all focus on them as signs, and dedicate them to the unexcelled perfect enlightenment, Subhuti, to the extent that they focus on the signs, to that extent they are attached. Why is that? Because those Tathagatas should not be focused on as signs, and the roots of virtue of those Tathagatas should not be focused on as signs.' Subhuti asked, 'Blessed One, the Prajnaparamita is profound!' The Blessed One replied, 'Subhuti, because all Dharmas are by nature utterly empty.' Subhuti asked, 'Blessed One, I prostrate to the Prajnaparamita!' The Blessed One replied, 'Subhuti, it is because the Prajnaparamita is uncreated and unmanifested, therefore no one can attain it.' Subhuti asked, 'Blessed One, all Dharmas are unawakened!' The Blessed One replied, 'Subhuti, it is because the nature of Dharma is not dual, the nature of Dharma is only one. Subhuti, the nature of Dharma

That which is the only one is not self-existent. That which is not self-existent is unmade. That which is unmade is not manifestly compounded. Subhuti, thus a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, if he knows that the self-nature of dharmas is the only one, which is not self-existent, unmade, and not manifestly compounded, then he has completely abandoned all forms of attachment. Begging, O Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is difficult to realize. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, thus the Perfection of Wisdom is not seen or realized by anyone, because it is unknowable and not manifestly enlightened. Begging, O Blessed One, the Perfection of Wisdom is inconceivable. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, thus it is not known by the mind. It is not known by form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. It is not known by the sense bases, elements, and dependent origination. It is not known by the perfections, emptinesses, factors of enlightenment, noble truths, meditations, immeasurables, and formless absorptions. It is not known by the eight liberations, the nine successive abidings, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and superknowledges. It is not known by samadhi and the doors of dharani. It is not known by the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha. It is not known by the fruit of stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, Arhatship, and solitary enlightenment. It is not known by the knowledge of the aspects of the path and the knowledge of all aspects. The Twenty-five Thousand Verse Perfection of Wisdom, the chapter on the complete purification of all dharmas, the twenty-seventh is complete. Chapter Twenty-seven.
