Subhuti said: "Venerable Saradvatiputra, there is no apprehension." He said: "How is it that there is no apprehension?" Subhuti said: "Because there is no conceptualization." He said: "How is it that there is no conceptualization?" Subhuti said: "Because all dharmas are absent, there is no conceptualization. Thus, that son of good family has no conceptualization in that samadhi." Venerable Saradvatiputra, by those names, that son of good family does not cognize that samadhi; there is no apprehension. He said: "Why is there no cognition and no apprehension?" Subhuti said: "Because that samadhi is also absent, and that Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is also absent, there is no cognition and no apprehension." Then, the Blessed One praised the Venerable Subhuti, saying: "Subhuti, well done! Well done! This speech is well spoken. As I have declared among the hearers who practice without afflictions as the foremost, what he has spoken is this. Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas should also train in the Perfection of Wisdom in this way. They should train in the Perfection of Dhyana, the Perfection of Virya, the Perfection of Kshanti, the Perfection of Sila, and the Perfection of Dana. They should train in the dharmas that are the wings of enlightenment, and up to the eighteen unshared Buddha-dharmas." Then, the Venerable Saradvatiputra said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who train in this way train in the Perfection of Wisdom with a mode of non-objectification. They train in the Perfection of Dhyana, the Perfection of Virya, the Perfection of Kshanti, the Perfection of Sila, and the Perfection of Dana with a mode of non-objectification. The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who trains in this way trains in a way that does not fixate on the perfection of wisdom. He trains in a way that does not fixate on the perfection of meditation, the perfection of diligence, the perfection of patience, the perfection of ethics, and the perfection of generosity. He trains in a way that does not fixate on the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment and the unmixed dharmas of the Buddhas. Sharadvatiputra asked: Blessed One, why is there no fixation? The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, because of the utter purity, I do not fixate on self. I do not fixate on sentient beings, life, going, nourishing, man, person, powerful one, lord of power, doer, feeler, and knower. Because of the utter purity, I do not fixate on aggregates, sources, elements, and dependent origination. Because of the utter purity, I do not fixate on suffering.

Because of being extremely pure, a once-returner, a non-returner, an Arhat, and a Pratyekabuddha are not perceived. Because of being extremely pure, a Bodhisattva is not perceived. Because of being extremely pure, Bodhi is not perceived. Because of being extremely pure, a Buddha is not perceived. Question: World Honored One, what is purity? The World Honored One replied: All dharmas are unborn, unceasing, without all afflictions, without purification, without arising, without objects, and without manifest actions. This is called purity. Sharadvatiputra, thus the Bodhisattva Mahasattva learns in the way of not perceiving all dharmas. Question: World Honored One, what dharmas does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in this way learn? The World Honored One replied: Sharadvatiputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in this way does not learn any dharma. Why? Sharadvatiputra, these dharmas are not in such a form that ordinary people can manifestly cling to. Question: World Honored One, in what way do these dharmas exist? The World Honored One replied: They exist as non-existent. Because they do not exist in that way, they are called non-existent. Question: World Honored One, why is what is not existent called existent? The World Honored One replied: Sharadvatiputra, form is not existent because of the space between inner emptiness and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are not existent because of the space between inner emptiness and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. The dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment are not existent because of the space between inner emptiness and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. The eighteen unmixed Buddha dharmas are not existent because of the space between inner emptiness and the emptiness of the nature of non-things. Therefore, ordinary people do not have
