Likewise, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also, with a mind associated with the noble, undefiled Dharma, intentionally focuses and takes hold of such a body. With that body, he matures sentient beings according to what is appropriate and fitting. Subhuti, what do you think? An Arhat manifests a transformation, and that transformation performs the deeds of an Arhat. Does that deed cause others to generate merit? Subhuti replied, "Bhagavan, it is so, it is indeed so." The Bhagavan said, "Subhuti, just so, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also, with a mind associated with the noble, undefiled Dharma, intentionally focuses and takes hold of such a body, and matures sentient beings according to what is appropriate and fitting. Such a body does not turn into suffering, nor does it experience painful feelings. Subhuti, what do you think? Does a magician show the form of an elephant, or the form of a horse, or the form of an ox from a magic trick? Or, if he shows various kinds of magic tricks, do those forms of elephants, or forms of horses, or forms of oxen, or other kinds of living beings, transform into something else?" He replied, "Bhagavan, no, they do not." The Bhagavan said, "Subhuti, just so, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also, with a mind associated with the noble, undefiled Dharma, intentionally focuses and takes hold of such a body. Those bodies perform the benefit of all sentient beings, but there is nothing that turns into painful feelings. Subhuti replied, "How amazing, Bhagavan! Thus, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, endowed with such noble, undefiled wisdom, with whatever body he acts for the benefit of sentient beings, and taking hold of such a body, is a very skillful means. It is truly wonderful! Bhagavan, in what kind of white Dharma does the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva abide, and though he practices such skillful means, he is not tainted by such actions?" The Bhagavan said, "Subhuti, abiding in the Prajnaparamita, the Bodhicitta

That courageous Bodhisattva Mahasattva relies on skillful means. Those skillful means practitioners benefit sentient beings in each of the ten directions, in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, yet they have no attachment to it. Why is that? Because the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, whatever is grasped, whatever is grasped by, and whatever is to be grasped, those three dharmas are all unattainable. Why is that? Because those three dharmas are all empty in their essence. Emptiness does not grasp emptiness, emptiness does not grasp any dharma, and emptiness is not something to be grasped. Why is that? Because emptiness is unattainable in emptiness. That unattainability is emptiness. Abiding in that, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will fully awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Asked: Blessed One, is it so? Does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva not abide in other dharmas, but only abide in the Perfection of Wisdom, and rely on such skillful means? The Blessed One replied: Subhuti, is there any dharma that is not included in the Perfection of Wisdom? Asked: Blessed One, if the Perfection of Wisdom is empty in its essence, how can all dharmas be included in the Perfection of Wisdom? Blessed One, for emptiness, there is no dharma that is included or not included. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, are not all dharmas empty by all dharmas? Asked: Blessed One, they are empty. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, since all dharmas are empty by all dharmas, are not all dharmas included in emptiness? Asked: Blessed One, that is so. The Blessed One said: Subhuti, therefore, you should understand it this way: the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the Perfection of Wisdom and relies on such skillful means.

It should be known to practice in faith. Then, the venerable Subhuti addressed the Blessed One as follows: "Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, practicing the Prajnaparamita, abide in all dharmas? With what supernormal knowledge does he abide? In each of the ten directions, in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, how do the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, abide, live, and protect? How do they pay homage to those who teach the Dharma? How do they listen to the Dharma, and how do they generate roots of virtue in the presence of those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, and realize the Paramita of supernormal knowledge?" After he had thus spoken, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti: "Subhuti, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the Prajnaparamita, he sees all those worlds, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges in each of the ten directions, as empty of inherent existence. In those worlds, he also sees the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, who abide there, as empty of inherent existence. Other than holding and proclaiming names and designations, everything that is expressed is empty of inherent existence. If those worlds were not empty of inherent existence, and those Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, were not empty of inherent existence, and the continuum of those designations were not empty of inherent existence, then it would become a partial emptiness, but that is not a partial emptiness. Therefore, all dharmas are empty of all dharmas. Therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with skillful means, practices the Prajnaparamita, realizes the Paramita of supernormal knowledge, abides in those supernormal knowledges, and realizes the divine eye, the divine ear, the aspects of magical power, knowing the minds of others, knowing previous abodes, and knowing death and rebirth. If supernormal knowledge has not arisen, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva.
