Son of good family, or daughter of good family, will the merit of that person increase greatly because of that? They replied: Blessed One, it will increase. Well-gone One, it will increase. The Blessed One said: Kauśika, therefore, whichever son of good family or daughter of good family, for the sake of reading, writing, and reciting this Perfection of Wisdom, gives it to others, their merit will increase greatly. Why is that? Kauśika, it is like this: from this Perfection of Wisdom, the undefiled dharmas are extensively taught, and having been taught to them, sons of good family or daughters of good family will enter without error. They will enter, they will enter. They will attain the fruit of stream-entry, they will attain, they will attain. They will attain the fruit of once-returner, they will attain, they will attain. They will attain the fruit of non-returner, they will attain, they will attain. They will attain the state of Arhat, they will attain, they will attain. Those of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle will attain self-awakening, they will attain, they will attain. Bodhisattva Mahasattvas will also enter the Bodhisattva path without error. The emptiness of its own characteristics, the emptiness of mirages, the emptiness of non-things, the emptiness of essence, the emptiness of the essence of non-things, the four mindfulnesses, the four right abandonments, the four legs of magical power, the five faculties, the five powers, the seven branches of enlightenment, the eightfold noble path, the four noble truths, the eight liberations, the nine successive meditative stabilizations, the door to liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, the six superknowledges, all samadhis, all dharani gates, the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha, great love, great compassion, great joy, great equanimity, and so on. Other immeasurable Buddha-dharmas were also extensively taught. Kausika, by these names, whatever son or daughter of good family writes the Perfection of Wisdom in a book, and gives it to others for the sake of reading, writing, and reciting, know that the merit of this is far greater than that. Why is that? Kausika, it is because all dharmas are extensively taught from this Perfection of Wisdom, and because of these, there are the noble and great Kshatriya castes, there are the noble and great Brahmin castes, there are the noble and great householder castes, there are the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, there are the gods of the Thirty-Three, there are the Yama gods, there are the Tushita gods, there are the gods who delight in transformation, there are the gods who have power over others' transformations, there are the gods of the Brahma host, there are the gods of Brahma's retinue, there are the gods of the Great Brahma, there are the gods of light, there are the gods of little light, there are the gods of immeasurable light, there are the gods of the utmost purity of light, there are the gods of joy, there are the gods of little joy, there are the gods of immeasurable joy.
