That. Any faithful individuals who worship the gods in any way are acting in accordance with the Teacher's instructions. The Buddhas also praise this. Wherever there are wise people, learned individuals abiding in discipline, the merits of offering alms and generosity should be proclaimed. Forgetting these will lead to forgetting. By making offerings, one will receive offerings. From then on, like a mother, cherish them with love, and the gods and those who cherish love will see happiness and peace. The Blessed One said that if faithful individuals worship the gods, they are acting in accordance with the Teacher's instructions, and the Buddhas will also praise this. The group of six monks were offering to the gods of the fences, the gods of the forests, the gods of the crossroads, the gods of the intersections, and all the worldly gods, etc. The faithful Brahmins and householders thought that if these noble ones were to renounce in the Dharma and Vinaya that was spoken of in this way, they would harm them, eat their flesh and blood, bones and fat, and take the lives of other beings to offer. We lay practitioners have also long abandoned these things. These people are making offerings, so they openly accuse them of faults, impose punishments, and say unpleasant things, and those monks would stop them. Why, venerable ones, didn't the Blessed One say that any faithful individuals who worship the gods are acting in accordance with the Teacher's instructions, and the Buddhas also praise this? Are we not faithful? Why don't you offer? Thus they spoke. When this happened, the monks reported it to the Blessed One. The Blessed One instructed: Monks, I was referring to householders, not to monks. Therefore, monks, do not worship the gods. The Blessed One said that monks should not worship the gods. The group of six monks then began to harm them. Those monks appeared in dreams saying: What wrong have we done that you are harming us? The Brahmins and householders who lacked faith also mocked the noble ones, saying: What have these people done to you that you treat them so badly? When this happened, the monks

Reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One admonished them not to make offerings, nor to harm. The group of six entered the road, and when walking, they avoided seeing the abodes of the gods, and went on roads that were uneven and full of thorns. Some monks were pressed down by reeds, some were pricked by thorns, and some fell down. The monks reported this situation to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One admonished: Do not walk around, walk on the straight road. At the abodes of the gods, ring the bell and recite the verses spoken from the mouth, do not doubt this. The story takes place in Shravasti. The venerable Upali asked the Buddha, the Blessed One: The Blessed One lives with the Sangha, and the attendant monks should visit the Abbot and Acharya every three periods. You also said that the great boundary should be set at three and a half yojanas. If the Acharya and Abbot are three and a half yojanas away, how often should they visit? Upali, they should visit every half month. If they live far away, they should visit every seven or eight days. Beyond that, visit according to the time. If they live within five hundred bows, they should visit every three periods. If they do not do so, they will be considered to have passed away. The story takes place in Shravasti. The venerable Nanda wanted to be ordained, and someone came who was ordained without a bowl. At that time, the monks washed the bowls, put the bowls in their original place, prostrated to the stupa, and then each took their own bowl and sat down in the place for eating. When the monks were eating, they washed the bowls and began to prostrate to the stupa, and the newly ordained person also prostrated with them, and when the monks prostrated to the stupa and washed their hands, the newly ordained person took the bowl of the venerable Kaundinya and put it back. Then the body and the name.

Mahakashyapa, Aniruddha, Shariputra, Maudgalyayana, Mahakashyapa, Ananda, Revata, etc., took the alms bowls. They also turned back to prevent it. They gathered in one direction as if their eyes were filled with tears. Those monks who had not abandoned their desire blamed, saying: Who has completely taken away the alms bowls like this? Some said: It is Nanda (Ananda). They said: Who else would do that except for that person who commits great sins? The monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said: Monks, it is useless to blame these people. Therefore, monks, do not completely take away without an alms bowl. First, look for the alms bowl and then completely take it away. If you cannot find it, I will give you a small alms bowl. If a monk completely takes away without an alms bowl, it will constitute an offense. This story took place in Shravasti. The venerable Aniruddha had a young attendant who held the alms bowl. He washed that alms bowl and his own alms bowl. Since the two alms bowls were similar, he did not know which one was his and which one was his teacher's. Later, he wrote the words "Teacher Aniruddha's alms bowl" on the venerable Aniruddha's alms bowl. Then, one day, another householder invited the Buddha and the Sangha of monks to his house for a meal. That householder used to have a prostitute whom he often visited. He said to her: Good woman, I have invited the Buddha and the Sangha of monks for a meal, so please come and offer alms with your own hands. But she had some urgent business and did not come. The Blessed One and the Sangha of Hearers accepted the offerings, spoke of the merits of giving, and then returned. The young attendant who held the alms bowl of the venerable Aniruddha thought: I will wash the alms bowl in that house and then leave, so he stayed behind. The householder said: Noble one, please lend me the alms bowl for a moment. I want to send the leftovers in the alms bowl to a friend.
