A monk took a full cup of grass wine and held it in front of a horse, and the horse followed. The monk thought, "I should steal like this," and transformed his body. Later, he felt remorse. The Blessed One said: "There is no defeat, but there is a gross offense." A monk went with many merchants on a sorrowful path from the valley of Kosala. The merchant rode a horse, and they said, "Venerable, this sorrowful path is full of fear, please ride the horse and leave quickly." The monks rode the horse, thinking, "I should steal like this," and transformed their bodies. Those monks felt remorse. The Blessed One said: "There is no defeat, but there is a gross offense." A monk crossed a river with a boat full of jewels, and he thought, "I should steal like this," and transformed his body. The monk felt remorse. The Blessed One said: "There is no defeat, but there is a gross offense." A merchant's boat full of jewels sank into the water. He was in a hurry, and the jewel box was washed away by the water. Some monks were bathing in the water below, and they saw the jewel box and pulled it out. The merchant saw it and said, "Venerable monks, this jewel box is mine." We found it after it was washed away by the water. Venerable monks, my boat full of jewels sank into the water. Then I was in a hurry, and this jewel box was washed away by the water. This jewel box is mine. If it is yours, take it. Those monks felt remorse. The Blessed One said: "There is no offense." A basic monk, with the intention of stealing, moved the belongings of the Sangha of the four directions from one place to another. The monk felt remorse. The Blessed One said: "There is no defeat, but there is a gross offense." Some thieves led a cow and climbed to the place of the monastery.
