There are no renunciates. They exist among the Shakyas. Arhats have no attachment. There are no beings driven separately. They did not understand the meaning of those verses, so they said: Wise ones, this one has spoken our praises, let him go without saying anything. Having said that, they left. The venerable Maudgalyayana's son came later, because the ripening of past karma was near, he came slowly, and those people saw him and said: Venerable Maudgalyayana's son, is there a renunciate for those who are universally present? He said: Wise ones, how can there be a renunciate for those who are universally present? The Blessed One also said that there is the first renunciate here, there is the second renunciate here, there is the third renunciate here, there is the fourth renunciate here, but outside of this, there are no renunciates and Brahmins among the outsiders, those debaters are empty of renunciates and Brahmins. Therefore, here, in the assembly, the lion's roar was truly proclaimed. Thus he spoke. Furthermore, your teacher was born in the great Avici hell, because he wrongly taught the Dharma, his body became huge, and his tongue was plowed by five hundred plows. He condemned me, because I wrongly taught the Dharma to those who practiced the ব্রহ্মচर्या (brahmacarya, brahmacarya, 梵行),deceived many beings, took the correct view from me and practiced it universally, therefore his tongue was plowed by five hundred plows, and the more you forget my stupa, the more I feel unbearable suffering. Please say so. Those people threatened and said: Wise ones, this wicked bald head not only speaks ill of us, but also speaks ill of our teacher, how should we deal with him? Some said: What is there to deal with? Just knock him to the ground. Others said: We have said before, just beat him like that. You always find fault to beat people, now he has spoken ill of us and our teacher, this matter has been established. Having said that, they cut off his limbs like reeds and left. The venerable Shariputra thought, what obstacles has the venerable Maudgalyayana's son encountered? So he looked back and saw his limbs

Having seen (his) limbs broken like reeds and fallen on the ground, he said: Venerable Maudgalyayana, what is this? He said: Venerable Shariputra, (I) have exhausted my karma, what else can be done? Venerable Shariputra said: Venerable Maudgalyayana, were you not shown by the Blessed One to be the foremost in magical powers? What is this? He said: Venerable Shariputra, I am oppressed by karma, I do not even remember the word "magical powers", let alone magical powers themselves. Then, Venerable Shariputra, like a small child, put Venerable Maudgalyayana into his monastic robe and carried him to the monastery. The monks, seeing such an unsightly scene, were frightened and gathered together and asked Venerable Shariputra: What is this? He said: Venerable Maudgalyayana has been made like this by the wanderers, staff-bearers, and topknot-wearers. Having said this, he gently laid him on the ground. The monks said: Venerable Shariputra, was this one not shown by the Blessed One to be the foremost in magical powers? He said: If (the Blessed One) showed it, then, Venerable ones, look at the power of karma! Who shook the excellent palace of the lord of the gods, Indra, a hundred thousand times, with the toe of his right foot? Shook thoroughly! Shook completely and thoroughly! The Blessed One showed him to be the foremost of those with great magical powers and great strength, but now, oppressed by karma, he does not even remember the word "magical powers", let alone magical powers themselves. Then, those monks who had not yet generated the noble path were unhappy and very depressed, and dwelling in solitary places, forests, and remote dwellings, they began to cultivate mindfulness. Everywhere in the city of Rajagriha (now Rajgir in Bihar), the wanderers, staff-bearers, and topknot-wearers said: The great saint Maudgalyayana has been beaten, his limbs broken like reeds, and the saint Shariputra, like a small child, has put him in his monastic robe and carried him to the Light Garden, and his body has only a little remnant of life left, and he will not live long before he dies. After this sound spread, hundreds of thousands of beings gathered in the Light Garden, and the king
