They replied: We did this because of the cold, O long-lived ones, do not say that. When they were being scolded, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One taught: A monk should not wear the clothes of householders. If such a circumstance arises, one should wear a kasaya over it. The Sangha also wore the same, and the Blessed One taught: The Sangha should put the clothes underneath and wear the kasaya over them, otherwise, it will be a serious offense. The summary is: umbrella and worldly distant banner, combination and pasting as well as forest fire, nowhere to go is the road, and dividing the lava without destroying it. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was staying in Shravasti, in the Jetavana Grove, Anathapindika's monastery. In Shravasti, there lived a Brahmin who used cloth, he made and sold cloth. At another time, he obtained a lot of cloth, so he thought: What method can I use to both gain merit and complete the sale? He was a faithful person, so he thought: Invite the Buddha and the Sangha of monks, lay out cloth cushions, and offer umbrellas. By doing so, he would be able to fully use the cloth, and by fully using the cloth and food, he would also gain great merit.
