If one persuades (another) to do it, one commits a minor offense; if one puts it down, one commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. "Bring this!" "Bring it from here!" "Bring just this much!" and so on; "Take this away!" "Take it away from here!" "Take just this much away!" and so on; "Put this down!" "Put it down here!" "Put just this much down!" and so on; "Bring that!" "Bring it from there!" "Bring just that much!" and so on; "Take that away!" "Take it away from there!" "Take just that much away!" and so on; "Put that down!" "Put it down there!" "Put just that much down!" and so on. If one persuades (another) to do those things that will not be obtained, the one who persuades commits a minor offense; taking, carrying away, and putting down also incur minor offenses. If a Bhikshu touches money, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches gold, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches money and gold, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If a Bhikshu touches money or gold that has been hammered, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches money and gold with obvious markings, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches silver, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches jewels, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches pearls, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches lapis lazuli, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If he touches jewels, pearls, and lapis lazuli, he commits a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. If a Bhikshu touches money and gold that are commonly referred to as "local goods," he commits a minor offense. There is no offense in touching brass, copper, iron, knives, lead, tin, and verdigris. Thus, the Blessed One established the foundations of training for the Shravakas in the Vinaya. Vinaya-vibhanga, Volume Thirty-three. The Buddha, the Blessed One, was dwelling in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in Shravasti. At that time, in Champa, there was a householder who was faithful, had virtuous thoughts, and was a generous giver. He commissioned the construction of a monastery with a high carriage entrance, windows and window grilles, and adorned with railings, pleasing to the heart and eye, like a staircase to the heavens, for the Sangha of the Tathagata's Shravakas.

After that, many monks there vowed to spend the summer retreat. After distinguishing, they said: 'Householder, we are going to Shravasti to pay homage to the Teacher and the feet of the elder monks, please give us clothes.' That householder said: 'Venerables, there are no good clothes here, it is said that there is "righteous union," please wait for a while until there is "righteous union," and then measure good clothes and offer them.' They said: 'Householder, if there are no good clothes, please give bad clothes.' The householder said: 'Venerables, I always give good things, how can I offer bad things? If you are in a hurry, you can take the price of the clothes, which is Karshapana.' 'Householder, the Blessed One has forbidden Karshapana, so we do not accept it.' 'Venerables, there is no such thing as not giving to me like this, but it is not right to give bad clothes.' Those monks did not take Karshapana, but only took bad clothes, and finally arrived in Shravasti. The monks said to them: 'Venerable ones, have you not received the gains of the summer retreat clothes? Why have your clothes become so bad, have you not received them? Did you just promise to spend the summer retreat somewhere?' Relying on which householder? Relying on so-and-so householder.' It is said that that householder is famous for giving good things, therefore they did not receive them.' Why did they explain the situation in detail at that time? The monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One thought: 'Alas, Brahmins and faithful householders also give the price of clothes, and my Shravakas also want the price of clothes, I should grant a small convenience to my Shravakas.' Then, the Blessed One said: 'It is acceptable to receive, and after receiving, one should also trust the giver and hold it.' In addition, the monk should be happy to do exhortation.' The monks did not know what exhortation they should be happy to do, so the Blessed One said: 'One can be happy to be the monastery manager or a virtuous friend.' Monastery manager means doing what is in accordance with the Dharma. Virtuous friend refers to...

The action is to take refuge in the Three Jewels and uphold the five precepts. When monks go to other places, they regret saying, 'We have no patrons here.' The Blessed One said, 'The patron, wherever he goes, whether dwelling, living, or staying, will not disappear even after a long time.' The monks obtained the price of robes, but without a patron, they regretted it. When they did not accept it, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said, 'It should be accepted, and after accepting it, one should stand before the monk and say this: 'Venerable one, please listen, I, a monk named so-and-so, have obtained this unlawful thing, and I, a monk named so-and-so, bless this unlawful thing. I will use this unlawful thing to accomplish a lawful thing.' Say this two or three times, and do not regret it.' Brahmins and faithful householders had monasteries built in remote areas, and fears arose there from time to time. The monks abandoned the empty monasteries, and those who took without giving, recognizing the empty monasteries, destroyed them. The Blessed One said, 'The property and gold of the Sangha or stupa should be hidden and taken away.' The Blessed One said, 'It should be hidden.' They did not know who should hide it, and the Blessed One said, 'The monastery manager or a layperson should hide it.' Those who were supposed to hide it stole it themselves, and the Blessed One said, 'A faithful layperson should hide it.' If there is no faithful layperson, a novice should hide it. If there is no novice, the monks themselves should hide it.' If it is necessary to dig a hole, but it is not known who should dig it, the Blessed One said, 'The monastery manager or a layperson should dig it.' That person himself stole it, and the Blessed One said, 'A faithful layperson should dig it.'
