Or it should be blessed, or it should be given to others. Not blessed? Not given away? Not allowed? If not given to others, then when the dawn of the eleventh day rises, it will become an abandonment. Even if not obtained on the specified date, if obtained within the second or twenty-ninth day, not letting him do that, but placing that with hope, and all the hope for that garment is interrupted, then the monk should bless that garment within those ten days, or give it away, or allow it, or give it to others. Not blessed? Not given away? Not allowed? If not given to others, then when the dawn of the eleventh day rises, it will become an abandonment. Just like the blue garment, yellow and red, thick and thin are also the same. The Venerable Upavāna asked the Blessed One: Venerable, how many kinds of garments are there? Upavāna, there are five: garments with owners, garments without owners, garments that are picked up, garments from the cemetery, and garments from the garbage heap are the fifth. Among them, what is a garment with an owner? Whoever has an owner, a man or a woman or a hermaphrodite, that is a garment with an owner. What is a garment without an owner? Whoever does not have an owner, a man or a woman or a hermaphrodite, that is a garment without an owner. What is a garment that is picked up? For example, relatives know that a relative is declining, dying, or the time has come, they cover his back with a garment, take it to the cemetery, and then they bring that garment back and offer it to the Sangha, that is a garment that is picked up. What is a garment from the cemetery? What is taken from a cemetery without a guardian, that is a garment from the cemetery. What is a garment from the garbage heap? There are five kinds of garbage heaps: garments on the main road, discarded in the temple, by the water, rags, and tattered ones are the fifth, tattered means very worn out. In addition, there are five kinds of garbage heaps: burned by fire, washed away by water, eaten by rats.
