At that time, (the Buddha) was residing in Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Shravasti. In Shravasti, there was a householder who took a wife from the same lineage. He would play with her, rejoice with her, and enjoy happiness together. While he was playing with her, rejoicing with her, and enjoying happiness, his wife became pregnant at another time. After eight or nine months, she gave birth to a boy, who was raised and grew up. After some time, the householder's relatives all died, and his wealth and possessions were exhausted. His wife also reached the time, and she said to her son: Son, I am old and cannot go to earn money, I will go forth. The son said: Father, if that is the case, I will also go forth. Son, very well. So he took the boy and went to Jeta Grove, went to the monks, prostrated at their feet, and said: Venerable ones, I wish to go forth. The monk said: Does this boy also wish to go forth? Venerable one, he also wishes to go forth. The monk, because he liked the boy, ordained him together with his son. According to the Dharma nature, the elderly easily obtain offerings, while the young are easily employed. Therefore, the son of the old renunciant was always employed. Then he said to his father: Father, the reason why we two are slightly suppressed is all because of little learning. Get up, let us two go to another place to learn and listen. The old renunciant said: Son, very well, let's go. So the two of them went to another place. However, because they always employed the young, the two of them were employed as soon as they arrived. The son said to the old renunciant: Father, even though there is employment in Shravasti, there, the Bhagavan, the King of Dharma, resides in person, and from time to time, a certain monk attains Arhatship, and a certain monk achieves the impure contemplation, and knowledge and grammar can also be heard. The king is also very devoted to the teachings, as are Queen Maladhari and the royal princess Summer Solstice, etc.

I, Lama knows the upright ascetic, as well as the old school, and the laywoman Saga, and the mother of the beast holder, and also many faithful people, so there are material enjoyments there, and also great Dharma enjoyments, so let's go there. After saying that, the two of them settled down in the area as they pleased, wandering around near Shravasti. Eventually, while wandering around, they returned to Shravasti. When they approached Jetavana, the ghanta was also struck, and the son said: The ghanta is being struck again in the monastery, let's go quickly. The old man said: I am old, very tired, and cannot walk, so he walked slowly. The son grabbed him by the neck and pushed him, and the old man began to walk quickly. The son thought: This method is good, I should use it again. The son pushed the old man like that again, and the old man fell face down on the ground, his mouth filled with dust, and he passed away. The son piled up firewood and threw the old man's corpse on the side of the road. Then the son took the alms bowl and Dharma robes and went to Jetavana. The monks saw him and said: The old man's son has come, good! Good! Where is your old man? When they asked, the new son began to cry. The monks said: Son, why are you crying? The new son said: My old man has passed away. The monks said: Son, such is the nature of all conditioned phenomena, and you have been well ordained, so do not grieve. The new son said: I killed him. The monks said: Son, alas! You have committed the five heinous crimes, and you have also committed a defeat, so for a long time you will suffer in the great Avici hell, now is the time to cry. When they said this, the monks reported the matter to the Blessed One. The Blessed One taught: Monks, that monk has no defeat, and the monk has already embarked on the path to liberation.

Do not impoverish the weary. I shall establish the laws of universal conduct for those who have entered the path of a Bhikshu, and those who have entered the path of a Bhikshu shall allow those wearied by the path of a Bhikshu to rest. One should take the three Dharma robes, the alms bowl, the water strainer, the container for the alms bowl, and the items for the intermediate container. One should know the time. If one is able to go, that is good. If one is not able to go, one should go earlier, wash the alms bowl, place the robes, allow the containers to be given and received, and examine them separately. If one is not able to come, one should prepare food to greet them. If it is not the right time, one should greet them with drink. If one who has entered the path of a Bhikshu does not correctly receive and follow the established laws of universal conduct, one will commit a serious offense. The Bhikshus became doubtful, and in order to dispel all doubts, they asked the Buddha, the Bhagavan. The son of the elder Ru-zhu, even though separated from his father's life, was not touched by the fault of the unpardonable crimes, nor did he commit a transgression that would lead to defeat. The Bhagavan said: Bhikshus, not only now, but also in the past, this person, although separated from his father's life, was not touched by the fault of the unpardonable crimes, listen to this. Bhikshus, in the past, there lived a washerman in a certain mountain rock, and he took a wife from the same clan, and he played with her, rejoiced, and enjoyed pleasure. Playing, rejoicing, and enjoying pleasure, his wife gave birth to a son, and he raised him and brought him up, and he grew up. At another time, there was a festival in that mountain rock, and there were many clothes to be washed, and he said to his son: Son, there are many clothes to be washed, and I cannot go home to eat, come and help me carry the clothes, go back and bring food. He and his son went together carrying the clothes. The son went back and brought food, and he ate the food and said: Son, I am tired and want to sleep, you wash the clothes for a while. The son said: Yes, I will do it. The washerman lay down in one place.
