Later, two nephews of Kujja, because their parents had died, wandered around and came to the Jeta Grove and stayed at the gate. When Kujja came out, he recognized them from their appearance and said to them: Where are your parents? They said: They have passed away. When he heard this, because of his compassion for his relatives, he wept and could not speak. The monks asked him: Venerable Kujja, who are these two children? Kujja said: They are my two nephews. The monks said: Why don't you adopt them? Kujja said: It is difficult for me to make a living by begging, how can I adopt them? The monks said: If you want to adopt them, let them offer leaves, flowers, fruits, and toothpicks to the monks, and the monks will give them the leftovers from their bowls. Kujja adopted them. They were also diligent, not lazy, and capable. They often offered leaves, flowers, fruits, and toothpicks to the monks, and the monks gave them the leftovers from their bowls. Because they had good clothes and food, before long, their skin, flesh, and blood were full, and they became strong and proud. The two of them said: Uncle, we two are ashamed to wear gold necklaces on our heads, but inheriting our father's business is not like that. The two of them ignored his words and left that place. The two of them lived by killing animals. After some time, Shirika became ill. While serving Muchukunda, Shirika was overwhelmed by the feelings of suffering and thought: I am temporarily disciplined. If I go to another place, there will be a good harvest. The heavenly realm is like being separated by silk, and liberation is like being veiled by a curtain. Even if the body is destroyed, I will be born among the gods. Therefore, I must kill myself in every way. Again, he thought: Killing oneself is painful, so I should look for someone to kill me. He began to think about who could kill me. Then he thought of Muchukunda's two nephews, who were fierce and violent, with red hands, keen on beating and violently beating, taking the lives of others, causing others to die, and living by killing. Only those two could kill me, no one else could. He had such a thought and realized it, and said to the venerable Muchukunda: Venerable Muchukunda, your two nephews are not here, where have they gone? Muchukunda said: Do not mention the names of those two. Those two are doing such evil deeds. I gave those two with faith and raised them, but now they are doing evil.
