Also, he saw people holding torches in front, a large crowd of people walking in front, and women with disheveled hair crying and following one after another. After seeing this, (King Śuddhodana) said to me: "Charioteer, what is this bier made of various colored cloths, the people carrying the bier, the people holding torches in front, the large crowd of people walking in front, and the women with disheveled hair crying and following one after another?" I said to him: "God, this is called death." He said: "Charioteer, what is this called death?" I said to him: "God, this person will no longer see the misery of defeat, nor will he have sons, daughters, male servants, female servants, workers, or those who live by wages. They will not see this person again, so God, this is called death." He said: "Charioteer, am I also not exempt from the law of death and the nature of death?" I said to him: "God, you are also not exempt from the law of death and the nature of death." He said: "Charioteer, therefore, turn the chariot around and go back to the palace. Like this, after I return to the palace, I will contemplate the famous truth that one cannot escape death." That young god returned to the palace, thinking that he also could not escape death, and was very unhappy and sad. Then King Śuddhodana thought: "Will the words of those Brahmins who are fortune-tellers and diviners not become completely true? Will the young man shave his hair and beard, wear saffron robes, and leave home for homelessness solely through genuine faith? Rather, I will give the young man most of the pleasures of the five desires, and in any case, I must make him happy and not let him renounce." Then King Śuddhodana gave the Bodhisattva Śākyamuni most of the pleasures of the five desires, and in any case, he made him happy and did not let him renounce. Here it is said: "Oh, that sacred, auspicious, and delightful city!"

Ra. Like a lamp that is the god of gods, pleasing all with the five qualities of desire, like dwelling in a garden of a thousand eyes' delight. Then, the gods of the Pure Abodes thought thus: "Although Bodhisattvas possess the power of cause, it is still necessary to accomplish the conditions. Thus, even with a great power of cause, it is still dependent on the power of conditions." Thinking this, they emanated a person with shorn hair, wearing saffron robes, holding a begging bowl in his hand, wandering and walking from house to house and from room to room. When the Dharma nature desired the Bodhisattva to go to the garden grounds, he would say to the charioteer: "Charioteer, quickly prepare a good steed for a while, and I will enter it and go to the garden grounds." Then, the Bodhisattva said to the charioteer: "Charioteer, quickly prepare a good steed for a while, and I will enter it and go to the garden grounds." The charioteer replied: "As the gods command." The charioteer listened to the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni's command, prepared a good steed, went to where the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni was, and said to the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni: "God, the good steed is prepared, please consider that now is the time." Then, the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni mounted the good steed and came to the garden grounds. The Bodhisattva Shakyamuni saw a person with shorn hair, wearing saffron robes, holding a begging bowl in his hand, wandering and walking from house to house and from room to room. Having seen him, he said to the charioteer: "Charioteer, this person with shorn hair, holding a begging bowl in his hand, wandering and walking from house to house and from room to room, his clothes are also of a different color. How is it that he is different from other people?" The charioteer replied: "God, this is called a renunciant." The Bodhisattva asked: "Charioteer, what is called a renunciant?" The charioteer replied: "God, a renunciant is well-tamed, well-disciplined, well-practiced in meaning, well-practiced in Dharma, well-practiced in virtue, and well-practiced in auspiciousness.

Recognizing good conduct, he shaved his hair and beard, put on the robes, and with pure faith alone, went forth from home to homelessness. This god is a renunciate. Charioteer, therefore turn this chariot to where the renunciate is. The charioteer, listening to the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni, turned the chariot to where the renunciate was. Then, the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni spoke to that renunciate, saying: Hey, why have you shaved your hair and are carrying a bowl in your hand, wandering and walking from house to house, from room to room, and your clothes are also of a different color, and in any way different from other people? He said this: Young man, I am called a renunciate. Hey, how do you become a renunciate? Young man, I have recognized that taming is good, proper discipline is good, beneficial conduct is good, Dharma conduct is good, virtuous conduct is good, and auspicious conduct is good, so I shaved my hair and beard, put on the robes, and with pure faith alone, went forth from home to homelessness, therefore I am called a renunciate. Hey, you have recognized that taming is good, proper discipline is good, beneficial conduct is good, Dharma conduct is good, virtuous conduct is good, and auspicious After recognizing good conduct, he shaved his hair and beard, put on the robes, and with pure faith alone, went forth from home to homelessness, that is good. Then, the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni said to the charioteer: Charioteer, therefore turn the chariot back, we are going to the palace. In this way, after I go to the palace, I will contemplate this matter alone. The charioteer turned the chariot back and then went to the palace. There, upon arriving at the palace, the Bodhisattva Shakyamuni thought: Alas, I must shave my hair and beard, put on the robes, and with pure faith alone, go forth from home to homelessness. Then, King Shuddhodana spoke to the charioteer
