The cow then said to the Bodhisattva: God, are you now weary of those who wear robes? The Bodhisattva said: Do not, do not be malicious! This fault is not because of this enduring robe, but because it is controlled by afflictions, abandoning sentient beings and compassion. Do not be foolish, sentient beings, those with discriminating minds, who would think that iron covered with gold would deceive people? Who would see gold as the same as iron? The arrow, bow, and evil thoughts within this, know which is the evil thought. This extremely peaceful maroon robe, also use wisdom to understand that it is forever peaceful. Then, that female yak gave rise to an unbearable feeling and said to her husband: I appease you with these words, but you let them kill me, I will not tolerate it, I will smash his limbs with stones. Then, the Bodhisattva revealed a smile and said: Alas! The wife of a Bodhisattva who feeds on afflictions should not be so attached. Don't you know this? A person possessed by a ghost, with a confused mind, will not respect a doctor without illness, nor will he harm the doctor, but will suppress and destroy that ghost. Similarly, a person possessed by the ghost of afflictions, with a confused mind, will create evil deeds. I understand him, I will harm afflictions, not those who have been defeated by afflictions. Do not act together, after I attain Bodhi, this three realms, will be filled with my fame, I will subdue the cunning and steadfastness of afflictions, first destroy, crush, cut, bind, dry, thoroughly dry, it will not be long, I will thoroughly punish. Then, the words of the Bodhisattva made that female yak terrified, unable to say a word. Then, the herd of elephants came before the Bodhisattva, and the Bodhisattva thought, if these elephants harm this hunter, that would not be good. This is the Dharma nature, Blessed One, Bodhisattvas will fall through the body, but not through the mind.

Then (the elephant who was the bodhisattva in disguise) went to that hunter and said in a human voice, "Do not be afraid." Then, exhaling a breath, it hid under the hunter's armpit. Those elephants also pretended to search for a while, and then left from that direction. After the elephants left, it said to the hunter, "Hey, friend, you should know." The elephants have left, now you can do your own thing. The hunter thought, "A person like me is truly vile! I have actually caused a being who has been reborn into the animal realm to generate faith with such merits." Thinking, he cried out and wept. Then the Bodhisattva said, "Hey, friend, why?" The hunter said, "I shot you." The Bodhisattva, displeased, thought, "Did I protect him, only to be harmed in return? Or is it that this female elephant could not bear to see me killed, so she has become slightly displeased with me?" Thinking, he said to the hunter, "Hey, friend, who shot you?" Then that hunter, with tears filling his eyes, said: O Elephant King, your body has been struck by my arrow. The arrow of your merits, has struck my heart. The body that is struck by a poisoned arrow, will be reborn. But the unwise, struck by the arrow of merit, will not be reborn. Compassionate even to the executioner, where can such a one be found? Your ocean of merits, who can fully describe your qualities? In short, I do not even have bad thoughts. My body is praised for its merits, but I have developed aversion to it. Although I have a human form, I have fallen into the animal realm. O King of Elephants, although you are an animal, born in the animal realm, you possess a human form. Merely by form, one cannot be considered an animal or a human. Whoever's merits are observed, that one is thought to be a human. The Bodhisattva said, "Stop interrupting my words with praises of merit, and quickly tell me why you shot me with an arrow!" He said: "Because of the king's compulsion, I did what I should not have done, and I need you."
