The Blessed One, as soon as he had spoken this knowledge that subdues all nagas and all unpacified nagas, all the nagas and great nagas became headache. Their bodies rotted, their bodies stank, and they became unfragrant. They knelt at the feet of the Blessed One and said: "Blessed One, you have spoken the most unbearable words of mantra! Blessed One, we do not remember having committed any offense. Blessed One, when the knowledge holders harm us, insult us, beat us, bind us, banish us, and harm us, the unpacified nagas become agitated. At that time, we make the crops, flowers, and fruits become bad. We make hail fall. We make frost and wind become agitated. We make it rain too much, or not rain, or rain at the wrong time. Blessed One, the knowledge holders and mantra reciters should abide in love. They should wear the armor of love. They should hold the sword of love in their hands. They should pacify all harm with love. Blessed One, from now on, we vow before the Tathagata that wherever this queen of knowledge is practiced, we will not harm the nagas. Wherever this essence dharani is used to protect, guard, hold, and sustain, and wherever threads are spun, boundaries are drawn, and mandalas are delineated, Blessed One, we will always and constantly avert all harm.
