Because of arising, arising is also empty of its own nature. Dependent arising is empty of its own nature. Whatever is empty of its own nature is without characteristics. Whatever is without characteristics is suchness. Whatever is suchness is non-erroneous suchness. Whatever is non-erroneous suchness is non-other suchness. Whatever is non-other suchness is samadhi. Whatever is samadhi is realization. Whatever is realization is emptiness. Whatever is emptiness is vipassanā. Whatever is vipassanā is śamatha. Whatever is śamatha is liberation. Whatever is liberation is the Middle Way. Whatever is the Middle Way has no one extreme, no two extremes, no object to be grasped, no grasper, no grasping, no annihilation, no permanence, no arising, no cessation, no conception, no conceptualization, no independence, no dependence on others, no going, no coming, no complete affliction, no purification, no gathering, no separation. That is vipassanā. Whatever is vipassanā has no aggregates, no elements, no faculties, no sense bases, no objects, no imputation of objects, no karma, no result of karma. Whatever has no karma and no result of karma is unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Whatever is unsurpassed perfect enlightenment is unsurpassed perfect Buddhahood. Whatever is unsurpassed perfect Buddha is Dharma. Whatever is Dharma is unborn and undying. Whatever is unborn and undying should be understood as being equal to space. The venerable son of Sharadvati said: "Son of good family, this teaching of samadhi that you have explained is very profound. Even the sphere of activity of all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas is not in it, so what need is there to mention worldly tirthikas and all opponents? This category of Dharma is difficult for all those who have not generated roots of virtue and who have little faith to understand. Otherwise, this is only what has become the object of the Tathagata's eye."

Belongs to. In this regard, the eyes of the Tathagata are without object and without abiding. Having said this, the Lord of Secrets, Vajrapani, spoke thus to the son of Sharadvati, the venerable one: "Venerable Sharadvati's son, the so-called Tathagata is the characteristic of Suchness. Whatever is the characteristic of Suchness is emptiness. Whatever is emptiness, there is no Tathagata in it. There is no characteristic of the Tathagata." Sharadvati's son said: "Son of good family, if the Tathagata is without characteristics, then how does he possess the thirty-two major marks of a great being and is shown as the Tathagata, and his body is well adorned with the eighty minor marks? How does one view the establishment of the three bodies of the Tathagata? How does the Tathagata manifest complete enlightenment in unsurpassed perfect enlightenment?" The Lord of Secrets, Vajrapani, said: "Venerable Sharadvati's son, the so-called thirty-two major marks of a great being are conventional expressions. The so-called adornment is the letters and sounds of elaboration. The so-called minor marks are the characteristics of the nature of illusion and dreams. The so-called perfect enlightenment is the characteristic of the nature of space. The so-called establishment of the three bodies is the characteristic of the manifestation of the two accumulations. Venerable Sharadvati's son, this is also the secret place of the Tathagata's body, in which the so-called secret of the body is the characteristic of the great merit cause in accordance. Whatever is the merit cause in accordance is the complete enjoyment body of the Tathagata, this is also the activity of the Tathagata's body and the secret of the body. Venerable Sharadvati's son, the so-called speech is the characteristic of both conventional and ultimate truth. Whatever is the characteristic of both conventional and ultimate truth is the emanation body of the Tathagata.

Non-existent, empty of all defilements and complete purification, not the realm of the body, not the realm of speech, not the realm of the self-nature of the mind, whatever these are, is the Dharmakaya of the Tathagata completely merged into the realm of space. The distinction of the three bodies of the Tathagata should be viewed in this way. Son of the Venerable Sharadvatiputra, moreover, what is the secret of the body of the Tathagata? It is the Dharmakaya. What is the Dharmakaya? It is the Middle Way of all dharmas. What is the Middle Way? It is neither arising nor ceasing. Whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, this Dharmakaya is permanent. Son of the Venerable Sharadvatiputra, that which is called the common cause of merit belongs to the category of Paramitas. That which is called Paramita should also be regarded as the common cause of merit. Why is that? Son of the Venerable Sharadvatiputra, that which is called the Dana Paramita is the complete giving away of both inner and outer things. The outer is a conventional term. The inner is an ultimate term. The outer is giving food to those who want food, and drink to those who want drink, likewise giving male and female servants, hired workers and those who live by labor, elephants and horses, vehicles and land, head and hands, feet and eyes, flesh and blood, bones and fat, even bones. And with the Prajna Paramita completely grasping, completely dedicating, not expecting different ripening results, abundant and vast, making it one's own enjoyment, giving in every way to all sentient beings, this is the outer. The inner is the Dharma Dana. That also has two aspects, truly entering into dependent origination, and the exposition of giving, the exposition of discipline, the exposition of patience, diligence and meditation and wisdom, and the exposition of skillful means and power and aspiration and wisdom, completely grasped by compassion, the Prajna Paramita completely merged. Furthermore, the inner giving is these
