If one diligently practices various Dharmas, that is the cause of Buddhahood. Whatever sins one commits, one will wander in the six realms, such as the ignorant animals, the miserly pretas, and so on. If we explain the meaning of what was said in detail: As mentioned earlier, death is impermanent, so even if you make arrangements for your lifespan, it is useless. If you think you will be reborn, then where you are born after death depends on the power of karma. The Karmashataka says: "Karmas are of various kinds, and therefore beings have various kinds of destinies." The Karunapundarika Sutra also says: "The world is created by karma, beings are created by karma, they arise from karma, and they are divided by karma." Thus it is said in the sutra. The Abhidharmakosha also says: "The various worlds are born from karma." The Lalitavistara Sutra says: "The nature of beings, the cause of karma, is inconceivable, and all the Buddhas have declared it. Just as seeds have differences, and various fruits are sown, so too, due to the differences in karma, beings and lands arise. The forms of lands are very many, and they are accumulated by the karma of beings." The Smrtyupasthana Sutra says: "Thus, due to karma, the world revolves like a wheel, not by will, but by causes and conditions." Padmasambhava said: "Cause and effect are infallible, and it is a vow that is difficult to abandon." Some people think that cause and effect are not real, which is a Lokayata (materialist) view, and it will lead oneself and others to Avici hell. The Maitreya-cakra-dashama-sutra says: "Whoever thinks that there is no cause and effect of karma, that is a Lokayata view, and immediately after death, they will be born in Avici hell, which will destroy themselves and others." The Padmavyuha Sutra says: "Some say that karma has no vipaka, and there is no good or evil, that is a false Dharma." So, what is karma? It is twofold: volitional karma and karma arising from volition. The Abhidharmasamuccaya says: "What is karma? It is volitional karma and karma arising from volition." The Abhidharmakosha also says: "Karma is volition and what is done by it." The sutra says: "The sages said that karma is volition and what arises from volition." Thus it is said. So, what are these two? What is thought in the mind is volitional karma, and what is born from the mind

Therefore, what is done is the karma of thought. In the Abhidharmakosha it is said: 'Thinking is the karma of the mind, from which arises the karma of body and speech.' For karma, there are also six aspects: classification, individual characteristics, possession, enjoyment of results, maturation from small to large, and non-wastage. First, generally speaking, the classification of karma includes three causes and effects: virtuous karma, non-virtuous karma, and unwavering karma. In detail, although there are many, non-meritorious actions are all included in the ten non-virtuous actions: from the aspect of the body, there are three: killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct; from the aspect of speech, there are four: lying, slander, harsh speech, and idle talk; from the aspect of mind, there are three: covetousness, malice, and wrong views. Meritorious karma is the ten virtuous actions; abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions is the ten virtuous actions. Unwavering karma is the practice of meditative absorption, which in summary is the practice of special quiescence without higher insight. Therefore, non-virtuous karma leads to falling into the lower realms, virtuous karma leads to rebirth in the higher realms, and unwavering karma leads to rebirth as a deity in the higher realms. In the Sutra Requested by Arya Deva it is said: 'For hot seeds, hot fruits will arise; for sweet seeds, sweet fruits will arise.' Therefore, by comparison, the ripening of sin is hot, and the fruit of virtue is sweet, which the wise should understand. Always through body, speech, and mind, do not commit the three sins, and for others who commit sins, the wise should not rejoice. Always through body, speech, and mind, do the three virtuous actions, and for those who practice virtue, also rejoice in your heart.' And, the Blessed One said: 'Seeing the ripening of karma is very happy; being reborn in a good path is even happier; those who do evil suffer in this life and will suffer in the next; not seeing the ripening of karma is very painful; being reborn in a bad path is even more painful.' And, the Blessed One said: 'Monks, therefore, for those extremely dark karmas, their ripening is also extremely dark; for those extremely white karmas, their ripening is also extremely white; for those mixed karmas, their ripening is also mixed. Monks, therefore, abandon the extremely dark karmas and the mixed karmas,'
