The sixty-four myriads of texts that were spoken, Vajrasattva spoke to Garab Dorje in the land of Oddiyana, who comprehended them in his heart and wrote them down. Garab Dorje taught them to the Vidyadhara Shri Singha of China, the Vidyadhara Jampal Shenyen of India, and the three Brahman boys, thus becoming the three traditions of the Great Perfection, including the Brahman tradition. Shri Singha taught them to Padmasambhava, the Pandit Gyalwa Yeshe, and Vimalamitra. Vimala came to Tibet and taught them to Nyang Tingdzin Zangpo, Vairochana, and others, thus forming the Vimala Nyingtik and the Vairochana's Image, which are all Great Perfection Kama teachings. Oddiyana (Padmasambhava) concealed them as treasures, such as the Dakini Nyingtik, the Longsal Nyingtik, the Vajrasattva Nyingtik, the vast view, the penetrating realization, and so on, which are countless. Previously, more than two hundred and fifty treasure revealers appeared, so each treasure revealer had their own treasure teachings. In general, the Great Perfection has six hundred and forty thousand tantras, most of which exist as treasures. Some have spread in the human realm, such as the Seventeen Great Perfection Tantras, the Seventeen Minor Tantras, the Dakini Longsal Barwa Tantra, the Seventeen Mother and Son Heart Essence Tantras, the Seven Sutras, the Eight Classes of Magical Illusion, and so on, which are known as the Three Sections of Sutra, Illusion, and Mind. In general, the Great Perfection is the pinnacle of the nine vehicles, the heart-blood instructions of the Dakinis, protected by the three guardians of Dharma protectors, planets, and vows, so it is very secret. Except for single transmission, it should not be taught as a public Dharma. However, the treasure teachings of Karma Lingpa, the common Dharma of both the Great Compassionate Padmasambhava Peaceful and Wrathful and the Self-Liberation of Intentions, among the Six Dharmas of Bardo Guidance, the introduction to the Six Taras, the introduction to Awareness Self-Liberation and Dharmata Bardo, in the Self-Liberation of Seeing, the fifth of the thirty-two introductions, the introduction to the Sunbeam Ray, introduces the pure realms of the three kayas. This is said to be the explanatory lineage. This is a Dharma for the benefit of beings, so it can be taught as a public Dharma. Before explaining it, one must first receive an empowerment related to the Great Perfection. If one has not received empowerment, it is not allowed to listen either, because without relying on the mantra empowerment, how can one achieve it? For example, a deaf person without gestures,

How can one become liberated? By fully receiving the empowerments, all secret mantras will be accomplished. Thus it is said. Explaining the tantras without empowerment, and loading cargo without measuring the weight, these are the causes of ruin. Thus it is said. Therefore, the empowerment related to Dzogchen that was previously bestowed is sufficient. Regarding the timing, it is also said in 'Vast Expanse of Clarity': The end of summer and the beginning of autumn, and the end of winter and the beginning of spring, times when the sunlight is clear are said to be the best. Thus it is said. Therefore, it is best to choose times when the sky is clear in autumn and spring. Even if the conditions are not fully met, it is necessary to choose times when the sun rises and sets without clouds for the practice. Here, the preliminaries to the main practice will be explained. In 'Natural Liberation' it says: First, train in the inherent power, the three of body, speech, and mind, it is said to distinguish the boundaries of samsara and nirvana. If the boundaries of samsara and nirvana are not distinguished, the connection between the three of body, speech, and mind in samsara and nirvana cannot be severed, therefore, the boundaries of samsara and nirvana must be distinguished. Thus it is said. In 'Following the Deceased' it says: In order to perform the preliminary of the body, practice various behaviors of the six realms, practice the behaviors of the Three Jewels. In order to perform the preliminary of speech, utter various sounds of the six realms, sounds of peace and wrath, and sounds of the elements, practice various different sounds. In order to perform the preliminary of mind, take the suffering of the six realms to heart, and also cut off the following consciousness. Because this body is born from the cause of ignorance, the seeds of the six realms reside within it. Because awareness is the actual manifestation of the three kayas, the three kayas manifest as three letters. Train in the inherent power of the letters, distinguish the boundaries of samsara and nirvana. Thus it is said. The meaning of this is: In this way, meditate on the objects of the three of body, speech, and mind. On the sole of your right foot, there is a black letter “དུ”, all the sins and obscurations of myself and all sentient beings that cause us to be born in the hot hells dissolve into it, and like an image appearing in a mirror, it transforms into the eight hot hells. Meditate that you are within it, experiencing immeasurable suffering, and recite “རཾ་ན་ར་ཀ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: रं नरक, Romanized Sanskrit: ram naraka, Literal Chinese meaning: Ram, Hell)” seven or three times. Now look at the mind of the meditator, its essence is that nothing is established. Now on the sole of the left foot, there is a black letter “དུ”, all the sins and obscurations that cause us to be born in the cold hells dissolve into it, and it transforms into the cold hells. Meditate that you are within it, feeling extremely cold, and your body is cracking open, recite “ཁཾ་ན་ར་ཀ་(Tibetan, Devanagari: खं नरक, Romanized Sanskrit: kham naraka, Literal Chinese meaning: Kham, Hell)” seven times.
