Etc., common and special, or, knowing the eighty-four thousand gates of Dharma, complete and perfect without increase or decrease in an instant, the nature is inherently abiding as such, hence self-arisen. That is the essence of all uncontaminated paths, self-liberation, possessing the essence of emptiness and compassion. The ground is the way of abiding that does not abide in samsara and nirvana, the path is the union that does not abide in samsara and nirvana, the result is the cessation that does not abide in samsara and nirvana. Knowing the self-liberation of the way of abiding that abides without being fabricated by anyone in an instant, the path is complete and without error, that clear and bright thing is called self-arisen essence self-liberation. This ordinary stream of consciousness, directly recognizing the dharmakaya without object, that is self-arisen without being fabricated by anyone, the innate purity from the beginning, the nature abides as it is, hence self-becoming. Meditation is the self-becoming of the self-arisen innate nature. Like that, in order to protect it, it is important to remain without meditating in a state of non-distraction. If distracted, one remains in the state of an ordinary being, if meditating, no matter what one meditates on, it will only be a wrong path, therefore, do not be distracted in a state of non-meditation. Thus it is said. The great accomplished Ugyenpa said: Not fabricated, remaining as it is, letting thoughts and concepts be, various appearances arise as companions, expanding appearances widely, these are four. Among them, the first, not fabricated, remaining as it is, like a Brahmin spinning thread, relax and remain, like a broken straw rope, loosely remain, like placed on a cushion, softly remain. If not like that, like a silkworm cocooning itself, binding oneself, like a wooden wedge in a rock wall, body and mind all tense, but the mind does not want to stay. In a state free from the object of meditation and the meditator, mind, body, and speech are condensed, only by non-distraction, setting up a boundary marker, letting it be free and vast in its own place, like catching a monkey and letting go of its tail, it will return to its original place. Therefore, in grasping the key point of the mind, being in a state of non-distraction, relaxing and knowing without meditating is profound. In general, relaxing and knowing is not easy, thus it is said. Second, letting thoughts and concepts be, this mind has been abiding in the dharmakaya from the beginning, its own form appears as thoughts and concepts, on top of these six aggregates

Sometimes there is a situation of running around from place to place. All of this is because the experience of recognizing one's own nature arises in the mind, thereby seeing the essence of Mahamudra. For such thoughts, there is nothing worse to abandon than not practicing, and there is nothing better to turn around and practice. Rather, on top of whatever thoughts arise, practice continuously like a river without distraction. The third is to take various things as companions, that is, no matter what appearances of the eight worldly dharmas arise, do not regard them as faults, but rather take them as companions. Like this, if you understand the key point of this, you do not need to specifically seek non-thought. You do not need to regard conceptual thoughts as faults. The famine of practice will not come, because you have grasped it from the root. Before you feel the mind abiding, clear, and comfortable, experience whatever arises without acceptance or rejection! Like this, without modifying it, recognize the ordinary awareness, and this itself recognizes all dharmas. No matter what thoughts arise, no matter what appearances manifest, no matter what experiences you have, they all manifest as the essence of Mahamudra. Just as you cannot find stones in the Golden Land, like this, all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana, in their own places, are not diminished in the slightest, not changing color, not being modified, but in the essence of primordial Mahamudra, they manifest as spontaneously born coemergent wisdom. Thus it is said. In the tradition of Dzogchen Aro Nyengyu Yakde Panchen, it is said: In the state of clear emptiness without grasping, relax and loosen, violently break, naturally abide, do not close the door of appearances, do not abandon antidotes, do not change with conceptual thoughts, do not fabricate. However it appears, however it manifests, turn it inward as it is, do not modify it, do not engage in acceptance or rejection. Relax and abide in your own nature, clearly abide in non-grasping. This is called Aro's Great Abiding. Ah tsa! Abide like this! It is said. Dongkhak Chopa said: When Saraha appeared, Saraha said: Alas! Child, listen, look at your own mind. This present awareness without modification is the intention of the Buddhas of the three times. Liberated from all extremes of permanence and annihilation. This which is free from obscurations and manifest, because it is free from acceptance and rejection, hope and fear, do not modify the nature of mind as it appears! Whether body and mind are established or not is like a rainbow in the sky.
