Oṃ! The teacher eliminates fear. The teacher delivers from the great ocean of suffering. Thus it is said. In the twenty rituals of Nāgārjuna, it says: Do not despise the teacher, for this is equal to all Buddhas. The Lama is equal to all Buddhas. Whoever despises the teacher, despises all the Buddhas, and will always obtain suffering. Therefore, those who desire the fruit of Buddhahood, and who have minds of reverence and faith, should diligently offer everything to this giver of immeasurable fruit. Thus it is said. In the *Namasangiti*, it says: Worthy of offerings, worthy of praise, the place of prostration, worthy of being constantly remembered, worthy of honor, the best of those to be offered to, the excellent Lama worthy of prostration. Thus it is said. In the *Vajrasana Four*, it says: Even two thousand people should be joined to one pure Brahmin. Even two thousand Brahmins should be joined to one Bhikshu. Even two thousand Bhikshus should be joined to one who possesses meditation. Even two thousand who possess meditation should be joined to one atom. Even two thousand atoms should be joined to one Lama. Thus it is said. Thus, there is no method for completing the accumulations other than offering to the Three Jewels. Therefore, the mandala of practice is offered after contemplating the Three Jewels. Moreover, offering to the Lama, who is the embodiment of all the Three Jewels, has particularly great benefits. Therefore, the main object of offering is to contemplate the Lama. Furthermore, whether the object of offering, the Three Jewels, is actually present or not, the merit of offering with mental focus is the same. In the *Ornament of the Sutras*, it says: With excellence and mindfulness, in order to complete the two accumulations, one offers to the Buddhas, etc., both manifestly and non-manifestly. Thus it is said. In the *White Lotus of Compassion Sutra*, it says: Ananda, let alone the respect and service that one shows to me while I am living, up to the point of making offerings. Let alone the respect and service that one shows to relics the size of mustard seeds after I have completely passed into Nirvana. Let alone the respect and service that one shows to stupas built for my sake. Ananda, if some people, focusing on the Buddha, even throw a single flower into the sky, Ananda, by that root of virtue, they will obtain the fruit of Nirvana, and ultimately pass into Nirvana.

I say. If offerings and mandalas are not actually available, they can be offered by mentally conjuring them. As it is said, "Flour piled up like Mount Sumeru," etc., these are all mental conjurations. How could they actually exist? "As many as the dust motes in three thousand worlds, I also contemplate myself everywhere, and for the sake of making offerings, I also contemplate, offering to all the Buddhas." And, "This land is filled entirely by wise ones with wheels of jewels, in order to bestow the fulfillment of desires, each day the wise should offer." And, "In all the infinite worlds of the ten directions, all the excellent forms and colors pleasing to the eyes of the Victors, all the assemblies of vajra-colored forms are conjured." These and others mean that mental conjuration is sufficient. The Buddha-fields and the world-systems, all that exists naturally in them, are also taken with the mind and offered. The number of times one has offered one's body in the past, this present body, all the bodies to be taken in the future, all are taken with the mind and offered to the Three Jewels. As it is said in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Flowers, fruits, medicines, and the world's treasures, all pure waters and delightful groves, precious mountains, forests, and solitary places, beautifully adorned trees, abundant with flowers and fruits, fragrant trees, jewel trees, wish-fulfilling trees, and uncultivated grains, and other things suitable for offering in the world, lakes and ponds adorned with lotuses, geese with very sweet and pleasing sounds, all the unowned space that reaches to the end of the infinite realms, taking them with the mind, I offer them to the supreme offspring of the Conquerors, together with their sons. Please accept them with compassion, O excellent objects of veneration. I have no other wealth, I am extremely poor, for the sake of benefiting sentient beings, please accept them. I offer my body and life completely, I beseech all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas."

Please accept me, I respectfully become your subject. Like this, offer the mandala with real or imagined or vowed offerings. If there is an actual mandala, then the mandala is divided into two types: the mandala for practice and the mandala for offering. First, if there are two mandalas made of jewels, etc., then the larger and better one should be used as the object of focus for the practice mandala, and the slightly inferior one should be used as the object of focus for the offering mandala. If there is only one, then it itself is both the mandala for practice and the object of focus for the offering mandala, and it can be made of wood and stone, etc. The great adept Mitra Joki said: If you don't have it, sprinkle the ground with incense and arrange the piles of jewels. If you don't even have that, then you can only visualize it. Moreover, as long as you can practice it, the bigger it is, the more merit you accumulate, and if it is made of jewels, then it should be at least four fingers high. If it is made of earth, stone, wood, etc., then it should be at least one cubit high. Do not rely on anything smaller than that. The shape should be completely round, the top should be smooth and even, the middle should be slightly raised, with a protruding appearance. There should be no depressions or incomplete piles of jewels. The bottom should be surrounded by a circular ring, equal to one-sixth of the top. It should be beautiful and pleasing, without cracks or breaks, and without being eaten by insects, etc. If there is, it should be smeared with fragrance and have no patterns. If these defects are in the middle, then they will harm the lama; in the front, on your right, they will harm your parents and relatives; on the left, they will harm your brothers and friends; in the back, they will harm your retinue and possessions. The piles of jewels should also be the best jewels, the middle ones should be shells and corals, and the worst ones should be good grains such as barley and rice. As a vow, the mandala should not be left empty. Visualize that all the diseases, demons, sins, obscurations, and impure objects of yourself and others, all the inner and outer worlds, are purified by the syllable "Sang." Hold the mandala in your hand, with your right palm together, with flowers. According to the tradition of Triyaba, wipe it clockwise with your right hand, place the mandala's protection, and then pile up the jewels. According to the tradition of the inner path, wipe it counterclockwise, place the mandala's protection, and then pile up the jewels. Therefore, examine which external tradition is appropriate, and wipe it three times, etc. Then, when piling up the jewels, do not place them too close to the middle or the edge, and avoid defects such as being crooked, scattered, or uneven in size. Like in the case of the refuge field.
