Hush! Children. How many have died? How many will die? It's strange that I myself haven't died until now. Even if I haven't died, it's a big mistake that I haven't practiced the Dharma that guarantees the next life. In general, one should contemplate that all containers and contents are impermanent. Vainly feeling dejected. When the throat hurts, practice mindfulness. Regarding the contemplation of the characteristics of death, it is said in the "Advice to the King": Great King, abandon this world. Go to another world. Great beings, be mindful. Enter into great darkness. Fall into a great abyss. Enter into a dense forest. Go to a solitary place. Be carried away by a great ocean. Be driven by the wind of karma. When going to a place without a foothold, there is no protector other than the Dharma. There is no other refuge. There is no other army. Great King, at that time, the Dharma will become a great continent, dwelling place, protector, refuge, and army. Thus it is said. Certainly. The reason for death, in the "Ratnakuta Sutra," it is said: Form is said to be like a bubble. No essence is found in it. Thus it is said. In the "Bodhisattva Pitaka Sutra," it is said: A drop of dew on the tip of a blade of grass. When the sun has fully risen. It will disappear in an instant. The life of a human is also like that. Just like the branches of a tree. Leaves, flowers, and fruits, etc. All have the nature of falling. The life of a human is also like that. The body is impermanent and unstable. Like an empty bubble and a bubble on water. Like a magic trick, similar to watching a dance. Just as clouds and lightning do not stay. Life also changes in an instant. In things without essence, one should take the essence. Thus it is said. Because the body has no essence, it will die, in the "Bodhicharyavatara," it is said: First, this layer of skin. Separate it with your own wisdom. From the network of flesh and bones. With the sword of wisdom, separate it. After separating the bones as well. One should observe between the soles of the feet. One should observe for oneself, what essence is there in this. Thus it is said. In the "Samadhiraja Sutra," it is said: Just as when a great rain falls. Bubbles of water arise separately. Having arisen, they disappear, there are no bubbles of water. Know that all phenomena are like that. Thus it is said. Because there is no certainty in life, one must

Death is like this: Although the lifespan of other continents, such as those with unpleasant sounds, is certain, the lifespan of Jambudvipa is uncertain. As stated in the Abhidharmakosha, "The lifespan of those with unpleasant sounds is a thousand, and in the second, half is abandoned. Here, it is uncertain, the longest is ten years, and the first is immeasurable." Thus it is said. The Dhammapada states, "Many people are seen in the morning, but some are not seen in the evening. Many people are seen in the evening, but some are not seen in the morning. Many men and women, and those in their prime, die, so what pride is there in saying this person is young?" Some die in the womb, similarly, some die at birth, similarly, some die while toddling, similarly, some die while running. Some are old, some are young, some are in their prime. Gradually, they all pass away." Thus it is said. Death is certain when life is exhausted, as stated in the Bodhicharyavatara, "Without stopping day and night, this life is constantly diminishing, and if there is no external increase, why should we not die?" Thus it is said. Daskye says, "Months and years do not stop for a moment, the sun and moon pass, and life has no leisure, the sun and moon pass, and we get closer and closer to death." And the Sutra of Trees says, "Like a prisoner being led to the execution ground, every step is closer to death, who knows if they will die tomorrow, it is not right to sit comfortably." Thus it is said. Just as ripe fruit falls. For example, ripe fruits are always destroyed by falling. Similarly, people who are born are destroyed by constant death. For example, a potter makes vessels from clay, and all vessels eventually perish, so is the life of people. For example, when a rope is stretched and the eye is inserted, it touches the bottom of the spool, so is the life of people. For example, those who are certainly killed, every step they take, they are brought before the executioner, so is the life of people. Just as a raging river does not flow backwards, so is the life of people, it does not flow back. Thus it is said. The Jewel Heap Sutra says, "Friends, life passes quickly, like a rapid stream on a cliff."
