The third Dharma session from the Great Compassion Red Guidance, Mahamudra Completion, Union of Two, Hearing Liberation, is a guide to meditating on death and impermanence. The third Dharma session from the Great Compassion Red Guidance, Mahamudra Completion, Union of Two, Hearing Liberation, is a guide to meditating on death and impermanence. (ག) The Great Compassion Red Guidance, Mahamudra Completion, Union of Two, Hearing Liberation, the third Dharma session, the guide to meditating on death and impermanence, is complete. I prostrate to Great Compassion! The profound instruction of Great Compassion, the means to quickly accomplish the Dharma, is to meditate on death and impermanence. The Blessed One said, "Monks, all conditioned things are impermanent." Therefore, the characteristic of conditioned things is impermanence. How is it impermanent? In the "Collection of Special Sayings," it says, "The end of accumulation is exhaustion; the end of rising is falling; the end of meeting is separation; the end of living is death." Thus it is said. In the Vinaya Sutra, it says, "The end of all accumulation is exhaustion; the end of the high is falling; the end of meeting is separation; the end of living is death." Thus it is said. In the Vajra verses spoken by Avalokiteshvara, it says, "Meditate on the meaning of the impermanence of the vessel and its contents." The meaning of what is said is that there are two distinctions: the impermanence of the outer vessel world and the impermanence of the inner sentient beings. The impermanence of the outer vessel world also has two aspects: gross impermanence and subtle impermanence. The impermanence of the inner sentient beings also has two aspects: the impermanence of others and one's own impermanence. The method of meditating on these is, first, the gross impermanence of the outer vessel, which is: from the ma-syllable wind mandala to the ya-syllable fourth dhyana and below, this is not a permanent nature, solid and unchanging. Sometimes the first dhyana and below are destroyed by fire; sometimes the second dhyana and below are destroyed by water; sometimes the third dhyana and below are destroyed by wind. Moreover, when destroyed by fire, not even ashes remain, just like butter being burned. When destroyed by water, not even sediment remains, just like salt dissolving in water. When destroyed by wind, not even remnants remain, just like ashes being scattered by the wind.

So it is. Thus, in the Abhidharmakosha it says: 'Seven by fire, one by water. Thus, after seven waters have passed, seven by fire, and then finally destroyed by wind.' Thus it is said.

Like friends such as Tsa-la, they must also be abandoned, and one must go alone. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of Advice to King Gsal-gyal: Great King, for example, from the four directions, four mountains that are solid, stable, and high collapse, grinding grass and trees and all living beings into powder and gathering together. In this situation, it is not easy to escape quickly, resist with strength, bribe with wealth, or ward off with mantras, substances, or medicine. Similarly, all sentient beings will face the four great fears of sickness, old age, death, and decay. In this situation, it is not easy to escape quickly, resist with strength, bribe with wealth, or ward off with mantras, substances, or medicine. Thus it is said. In the Vajra Verses spoken by Avalokiteśvara: Death is certain to occur, but when death will occur is uncertain. For such death, abandon the useless things of this life. Thus it is said. Death is certain, as it is said in the Sutra Showing Impermanence: Being without sickness is impermanent, youth is impermanent, life is also impermanent, and wealth is not eternal. When beings hear the doctrine of impermanence, how can they still feel joy in the pleasures of desire? Thus it is said. In the Nirvana Sutra it is said: If there is birth, there is death. If there is prosperity, there is decay. Youth is also impermanent. The appearance of prosperity is also taken away by disease. The life of living is also taken away by death. There is nothing that is eternal. Thus it is said. In the Nirvana Sutra it is said: It is impossible to obtain a state of permanence for conditioned phenomena that are formed by causes and conditions. All conditioned phenomena are impermanent, so Ananda, do not grieve. Thus it is said. In the Jataka Tales it is said: From the first night of entering the womb, from that time on, these beings of the world embark on the path, without deviating to other paths, approaching the Lord of Death. Thus it is said. In the Great Compassionate Secret Gathering Red Guidance it is said: In the past, how many beings in the world have already died. Now, how many beings on earth will die. All countries die in war, which cannot be counted. Who died, what died, how many died? How much was heard? In short, contemplate that being without meaning is a great fault. Then, sometimes when I remember, my own countrymen, villagers, paternal relatives, relatives and friends, guru dharma friends, parents and siblings, spouses
