Reliance. Those will not become images of each other. The wise, who have completely abandoned habits, Proximity to those Buddhas is not praised. Whoever teaches the Dharma for the benefit of sentient beings, Such a person is extremely worthy of reliance. Moreover, they are inseparable friends to each other, Even a hundred million demons cannot separate them. People who rely on worldly entanglements, All of them turn to this life for benefit. Relying on the Dharma without entanglements, Even people will become greatly meaningful. A mind without entanglements is placed nearby, The Dharmas without entanglements are well explained, Whoever is a Joyful One without entanglements, Such ones will quickly become Buddhas. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the benefits of teaching the Dharma are immeasurable. In the Encouragement of Higher Intention Sutra, if one gives the gift of Dharma without craving the love and respect one receives, then this gift of Dharma is twenty kinds of gifts without entanglements. What are the twenty? They are: having mindfulness, having intelligence, having wisdom, having faith, having prajna, being able to realize the transcendental prajna, having little desire, having little hatred, having little ignorance, demons cannot find an opportunity in them, the Buddhas, the Bhagavan, remember them, non-humans protect them, the gods infuse their bodies with radiance, unfriendly people cannot find an opportunity in them, they are inseparable from friendly people, they are worthy of trust, they obtain fearlessness, they have great happiness in their minds, they are praised by the wise, this gift of Dharma will be remembered, these are the twenty benefits of love. Thus it is said. No matter how wise and intelligent a person is, if they have not heard the Dharma, they cannot distinguish between good and evil. No matter how clear the eyes are, if there is no lamp in the darkness, one cannot see, just like that, in the collection of hearing: Just as a house is well covered, Entering inside covered by darkness, Even though forms and other things exist, Like those with eyes, they do not see. Likewise, this is born of lineage, Even if a person is intelligent and wise, The nature of sins and virtuous Dharma, Before hearing, one cannot know. Eye

Just as with a lamp, one can see various objects, similarly, through hearing, one can clearly understand the Dharma of virtue and vice. As stated in the "Ratnakuta Sutra": Without hearing, one cannot understand the Dharma of virtue and vice; having heard, one can fully understand all Dharmas; having heard, one will not rely on sin; having heard, one will abandon sin; having heard, one will attain Nirvana; having heard, wisdom will increase; through wisdom, one can discern the meaning of things; having seen the meaning of things, one will obtain happiness; having obtained the meaning, the mind will be subdued; in this life, one will attain Nirvana. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the benefits of hearing the Dharma, as stated in the "Bodhisattva Pitaka Sutra": Hearing enables one to understand all Dharmas, hearing enables one to turn away from sin, hearing enables one to abandon meaningless things, hearing enables one to attain Nirvana. Thus it is said. As stated in the "Jataka Tales": Whoever, having heard, has a clear mind, will rely on goodness, wisdom will increase, and ignorance will be absent; even if one knows oneself, it is worth buying. Thus it is said. In the "Sutra Requested by Prince Moon," it is also said: Hearing is the lamp that dispels the darkness of ignorance, it is the supreme wealth that thieves and others cannot take away, it is the weapon that destroys all ignorant enemies, it is the supreme friend who shows the means, methods, and secrets, it is the unchanging friend even in poverty, it is the harmless medicine for the disease of suffering, it is the supreme army that destroys the great army of sins, and it is also the supreme of fame, glory, and treasure, meeting with virtuous people is a supreme birth, in the Sangha it can please the wise, and for the attacks of outsiders, it is like the rays of the sun. Thus it is said. It generates courage that is gentle and extremely bright, immediately brings great fame, makes speech fluent, is a special cause, hearing makes glory habitual, meaning clear, and enables understanding. Corresponding to hearing and without contradiction, one can be well established on the path of the three wheels, hearing makes following practice the core, and in the fortress of birth and death, one is easily liberated. Thus it is said. In the "Sutra Requested by Anavatapta's Son," it is said: Son of good family, if one has hearing, wisdom will arise. If one has wisdom, afflictions will be completely pacified. For those without afflictions, demons will not find an opportunity. Thus it is said. Hearing is immaculate.
