Then, relax your body and mind and meditate. Practice seclusion as much as possible, value the posture and devotion, and relinquish all activities. Then, the intermediate stage is that whatever thoughts arise, they do not harm the meditation, and the thoughts naturally subside within their own framework. The state of bliss, clarity, and non-thought becomes more intense than before. The conviction in meditation also becomes stronger. Faith and pure appearances also increase. At that time, mix strong conviction with the flow and meditate. Gaze intently at the essence of the conviction itself. Then, the highest stage is that the state of clarity and emptiness lasts for a long time. All thoughts subside in their own state, like snowflakes falling into the ocean. Even in dreams, one can occasionally recognize it. Sometimes, one can recognize luminosity in dreams, and many pure appearances arise. In that state, no matter how long one meditates, one does not feel discomfort or boredom. If the channels are good, five signs etc. will appear. The thoughts of afflictions and attachment will also be temporarily suppressed. The experience of emptiness is like a clear sky. The experience of clarity is like a windless candle. The experience of bliss is that the body and mind feel happy and content, but this happens occasionally and does not last continuously. It lasts for four or five months at most, or two or three days at least. The conviction and arrogance of profound realization also increase greatly. At this time, it is very important to pray with strong devotion. All of the above are mostly experiences, called the cycle of one-pointed experience. Because realization has not yet arisen, it belongs to calm abiding, or to the category of abiding. One-pointedness is like a mature son. Many are born, but few acknowledge it. This means that at this stage, there are many instances of experience arising, but because of the desire for high status, few people say "I am it." That is, from the pacification of distracting thoughts, abiding one-pointedly in the state of observing the nature of mind in experience is the one-pointedness of one-pointedness. From that perspective, seeing the freedom from elaboration of grasping at reality is the freedom from elaboration of one-pointedness. The three, bliss, clarity, and non-thought, blending into one taste is the one taste of one-pointedness. It is said that if one gains stability in it and it goes on day and night, that is one-pointed non-meditation. If the power of great one-pointedness is perfected and qualities arise, it will go on day and night, and some tainted clairvoyance and signs of accomplishment will appear. However, even if power and qualities are not perfected, realization only increases further. The appearances of the six external aggregates, all the land, stones, mountains, and rocks, appear like the moon in water and rainbows. Those who see

The arising of the awareness of emptiness, naked and clear, seems to be a small freedom from elaboration. Since all phenomena appear like illusions, it is the samadhi of illusion. In the Tantra of Secret Inconceivability, it is said: "The second samadhi of illusion, in the great equality free from elaboration, manifests the power of inconceivable samadhi, and after obtaining warmth, one has power over birth." At this time, a kind of high-mindedness arises that makes it difficult to distinguish between understanding the experience of emptiness and realizing the experience. Do not be arrogant about this, but mix the appearance of objects and the nature of the mind and meditate. Due to devotion and supplication, all the previous experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought disappear, and it seems that they remain in an ordinary state, as if the previous meditation has been abandoned. Ah, is this meditation or the previous one? Thinking that the two seem to be the same, there is no certainty in this meditation, and the clinging of conviction disappears. Seeing that there is nothing else to meditate on other than leaving one's body in its ordinary state is the middle freedom from elaboration. At that time, if you are not convinced, looking at some of the Kagyu collections will be like meeting an acquaintance. Ah, seeing the nature of the mind is this. It seems that all the previous good things are various experiences. At this time, it is best to abandon activities, rituals, and other elaborate things and strive for the path of skillful means such as tummo, which will be more effective. Then there is the great freedom from elaboration: Just as one realizes that one's own mind is empty and unborn, one also sees that the minds of all sentient beings are the same. One also sees that the mind-streams of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are the same. Seeing that the mind of the Buddha, the mind of sentient beings, and one's own mind are inseparable and of one taste. The so-called view of samsara and nirvana being inseparable comes from here. All the places of loss and confusion also seem to be determined from here. That is to say, looking at whatever arises without distraction is the one-pointedness of freedom from elaboration. When looking, since it is free from all the extremes of elaboration, it is the freedom from elaboration of freedom from elaboration. Since all phenomena are of one taste in that state, like water placed in water, it is the one taste of freedom from elaboration. If one wanders around there, it is said that there is no meditation of freedom from elaboration. As it is said: Freedom from elaboration in general is like an old, weak, and inferior horse. As it is said, many people claim to possess it. Power and merit are great one-pointedness.
