It is called the heart essence. Although it pervades all sentient beings, just as silver is present in silver ore, it will not appear without smelting. Although the essence of the Buddha is inherently present in all sentient beings, without accumulating merit and purifying obscurations for countless eons, one will not see the mind of the Buddha's heart essence. This mind, which remembers what one does not want to remember, is a deluded conceptual thought. Conceptual thought is the cause of ignorance and samsara, and there is no benefit in looking at it. Therefore, strive to accumulate merit and purify obscurations. Thinking that all phenomena are emptiness, with this motivation, accumulate merit. After countless eons, one will realize emptiness. This is what is said in the Sutra system. It is indeed true according to the Sutra system. However, in the Unsurpassed Tantra system, it is said that one can attain Buddhahood in one lifetime. What need is there to mention realizing emptiness? All accumulation of merit and purification of obscurations for countless eons are complete in the four preliminary practices alone. Emptiness can be meditated on now. On this, the tantras and treatises of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, and all the Panditas and Siddhas agree, but they disagree on "abiding" and "moving." Some Tibetan scholars say that abiding is the Alaya consciousness, which is the latent habit of ignorance. Moving is conceptual thought, and conceptual thought is great ignorance. Looking at and cultivating it is not the intention of the Dharmakaya. Even if it does not accord with the true meaning of Mahamudra, it is easier for ordinary, ignorant people to understand if taught in this way, so they are initially allowed to cultivate in this way. Then, if one can abide in tranquility, one should practice the nature of insight. The union of tranquility and insight, at the end of the arising of bliss, clarity, and non-thought, like a moon in water, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear, and one directly realizes the selflessness of phenomena. It is said that such practice is effective. Geshes who hold this tenet are now spread all over the earth. They say that this is the Mahamudra of the Sutra system. Jetsun Milarepa and, Sempa Rangjung Dorje, and others, the intention of both Mahamudra and Dzogchen is that the essence of the ground and result are inseparable, and the nature of mind is inherently Buddha. Abiding is the naked Dharmakaya, awareness, clarity, and emptiness are the complete Sambhogakaya, moving is the compassionate Nirmanakaya, the inseparable Svabhavikakaya. Moving is the ignorance of conceptual thought, and after awakening, it is non-conceptual wisdom.

It is. First, from the clarity of mind essence to the great bliss of non-meditation, there is nothing that is not in a state of abiding and moving. First, from learning the Tibetan alphabet to the many scriptures such as the Kangyur and Tengyur, there is nothing that does not begin with the Tibetan alphabet. Therefore, this practice of combining abiding and moving, if you understand it well and do not abandon it, there is nothing better than this. Obstacles and mistakes also arise from subtle clinging to conceptual thoughts. If you know how to maintain the natural state without modification, there will be no obstacles or mistakes. All the accomplished masters of China and Tibet were liberated through this practice. From Vajradhara Buddha to the present, it has been transmitted from ear to ear, from heart to heart, and the bridge of accomplished masters has never been broken. All Sutras and Tantras cannot be understood through the speculation of scholastic scholars, or through rational analysis. Therefore, let your own mind abide in the Dharmakaya, and maintain the natural state without modification. The learned cannot understand this, the sharp-minded cannot understand this, and the greedy cannot understand this. Even if a great person is in a dangerous place, they cannot understand this. Only when the karmic connections of past lives awaken, and through the power of devotion and blessings, can it arise. Therefore, pray with devotion. This is a song of various aspirations regarding abiding and moving. Spoken on the second day of the red side of the fifth month (Tibetan calendar) of the Horse year. Please practitioners, do not be ashamed. ༈ །། Namo Mahamudra Ye! Sanskrit Romanization: Namo Mahāmudrāye, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to Mahamudra!) First, recognize abiding and moving, then adjust your posture and practice. Moving is like a wild horse without reins, running from the mountains and jumping from the valleys. Moving is like an ignorant child, doing nothing right, only doing wrong, making noise. Moving is like a monkey kept by an old woman, restless, like many birds and eagles. Moving is like a feather on a mountain peak, blown by the wind, drifting everywhere. Moving is like water on a mountain, never staying for a moment, flowing quickly. Moving is like the wind in the sky, unobstructed, spreading everywhere. Moving is like a wild horse escaping its bonds, running away when caught, staying when released. Moving is like the consciousness of the Bardo, unimpeded by earth, stones, mountains, and rocks. Moving is like a fierce deity, able to circle the three thousand worlds with just a thought. It's like an old woman watching over a flock of sheep, not safe even when sitting, and not at peace in her heart. If you abide for a little while, joy arises in your mind. For those who are diligent and hardworking, regard moving as an enemy to be stopped, if you are diligent
