Said. Homage to Mahamudra! There are two types of insight. The common insight of the Vehicle and, The insight of the Great Seal and Dzogchen traditions. The common insight of the Vehicle is, Said to be the wisdom of understanding. Its essence is only conceptual thought. All phenomena are of two types: conventional truth and ultimate truth. Conventional truth is cause and effect, dependent origination, Depending on the cause, the effect arises. From the cause of virtue arises happiness, From the cause of evil arises suffering. Ultimate truth is free from the three: arising, ceasing, and abiding. In all phenomena, there is no arising, In all there is no place to abide, In all there is no ceasing. It is not nothing, nor is it a nihilistic view, From the nature of emptiness, everything arises. Like clouds and rainbows. All phenomena are impermanent and changing, Like illusions, dreams, and emanations. At first, it does not come from anywhere, In the end, it does not go anywhere. All phenomena are not different, All essence is one in emptiness. All phenomena are not one, Appearances are countless and immeasurable. All the characteristics of elaboration, Are non-objective, the very nature of peace. This is what the fully enlightened one said. The way of abiding in view is like this, Its meaning, the noble Nagarjuna said: "By what is dependently originated". Etc., these verses were said. Likewise, the Five Treatises of Maitreya and, The Six Collections of Reasoning of Madhyamaka, etc., Understand the words of the texts. All phenomena are emptiness, emptiness itself. Beyond the realm of speech, thought, and expression, Like the center of a clear sky. The understanding arises that it is like that. Generating certainty about that, It is said to be the view of emptiness. That is the general meaning of emptiness, To meditate in that way is called analytical meditation. It is the analytical meditation of the Panditas. It is the practice of most Geshes. In the Great Seal tradition, like that, Emptiness falls into the nature of the knowable. It is a dry understanding of the view, Because that itself is conceptual thought. There is no certainty of meditation. By reciting the mantra of Subhava (Tibetan: སུ་བྷ་ཝ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: सुभाव, Sanskrit Romanization: subhāva, Chinese literal meaning: self-nature), Earth, stones, mountains, rocks, cities, etc., All are meditated as empty without existence. Meditate with the mind like the sky. It is the way of meditation for most mantra practitioners. First, meditate on the mandala deity assembly, Then the outer container world, the realm of existence, Meditate on dissolving into the palace. Also, all sentient beings within, Meditate on dissolving into the retinue of the mandala deity.

Ma! All the retinue dissolve into the main deity. The main deity dissolves into the Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hūṃ) at the heart. The Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Hūṃ) also rises upwards to completion and dissolves, dissolving into the nāda (藏文:ནཱ་ད་,梵文天城体:नाद,梵文罗马拟音:nāda,汉语字面意思:sound) as small as the tip of a hair. That also disappears, which is emptiness itself. Meditating like the sky is the emptiness of the ritualist. In that Mahāmudrā tradition, if emptiness becomes widespread, that is also a string of conceptual thoughts, not the key to meditation. The root of being born in saṃsāra is because of clinging to self. To tame that clinging to self, one needs the wisdom of realizing selflessness. What is called "self"? It is not this body. Bhaṇḍa (藏文:བྷནྡ,梵文天城体:भन्द,梵文罗马拟音:bhanda,汉语字面意思:container), legs, bones, teeth, and eyes, the body is in separate pieces, and each one is not the self. Therefore, there is no self in the body. The mind is also not the self, without form, color, or substance. It does not stay in one place, scattering and flying away. Therefore, the mind is also not the self. If the body and mind are not the self, then where is the self that is not the body and mind? What is called "self" is merely dependence. It is not real, and it does not accomplish meaning. Meditating in this way will eliminate clinging to self. Realizing selflessness is liberation. The wise meditate in this way. In the Mahāmudrā tradition, meditating in that way is not effective. Emptiness becomes an antidote. What is to be abandoned and the antidote are not separate. Whatever arises, liberation comes from looking at its essence. In this way, emptiness becomes three faults. Even if it is not Mahāmudrā, a person who has not realized Mahāmudrā, by practicing this, it is said that obscurations will be slightly thinned. The superior seeing of the common vehicle, the small song of Rāga Asya, spoken on the sixteenth day of the horse year (Tibetan calendar) of the Chrum month (Tibetan calendar). Maṅgalaṃ! Homage to the Great Seal). Without needing to study sūtras and tantras, the method of directly realizing emptiness, the application of Mahāmudrā, is the method of direct introduction in the moment. The root of all dharmas is one's own mind. This is said in all the sūtras, tantras, and pith instructions. Even if a fool analyzes with reason, the analyzer and the sufferer are one's own mind. The five poisons and afflictions arise from the mind. Faith and devotion arise from the mind. The cause of wandering in the lower realms of saṃsāra is the mind. The cause of obtaining higher realms and liberation is the mind. The body is like a rotten bag filled with things. Saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, the root of everything is the mind. Therefore, if the root of the mind is cut, it is the same as cutting the root of all dharmas. Thang.
