Glorious, Immovable Lord of Hosts! Powerful Vajra, Kind Dharma Lord, Supreme! Wondrous Garland of Perfect Buddhas! I supplicate the Karma Kagyü! Bless me to attain Buddhahood in this very life! To the Lamas of the Mind Training Lineage, I supplicate! Bless my mind-stream! Never engaging in the four black dharmas, Bless me to distinguish between what to adopt and abandon, black and white! By impermanence and death, may my mind be thoroughly tamed! Bless me to be without concern for the activities of this life! Not striking or subjugating enemies and demons outwardly, Bless me to tame my own mind inwardly! Not striving to accomplish greatness and wealth in this life, Bless me to strive to accomplish enlightenment! Not generating thoughts of peace and happiness in the Lesser Vehicle, Bless me to generate immeasurable compassion! For the sake of beings, may perfect enlightenment Be attained swiftly, without obstacles! This was given when I was twenty years old, on the Dharma seat of the holy palace of Shar Öser (Eastern Rays of Light), by the Seventh, the Venerable Dharma Lord Chökyi Wangchuk, based on the root text of the Eight Verses on Mind Training by Langri Tangpa, explaining one verse each day, thus extensively teaching for eight days. It is said that Lord Langri Tangpa was an emanation of Buddha Amitabha. When the wise and accomplished Khyüngpo Naljor received ordination as a monk before the Vajra Throne in India, his preceptor said, "I am not your preceptor; you are an emanation of Avalokiteśvara. Your preceptor is in Tibet, an emanation of Buddha Amitabha, named Dorje Senge, residing in the Wood Ox Grove. You should ask him and seek his prophecy." Therefore, Lord Atiśa, Lord Langri Tangpa, and the Seventh Shamarpa are said to have the same lineage of mind transmission, as repeatedly stated by the learned and wise monks. The Seventh Lord himself greatly emphasized this teaching and it seemed to be a transmission of blessing. When giving this teaching, he wore the great Kadampa hat, the Jowo robes, and the three kinds of Dharma robes, making his appearance unusually radiant and impressive.

It is said that this appeared as a vision of harmonious unity among the Sangha, and I wondered if it was an auspicious sign of the teachings descending. Thus, this supplication of the mind-training lineage, which had previously bestowed its kindness, was later written by the 7th Karmapa, Karma Rakshi, at the age of thirty-four in the auspicious hermitage. The Supplication of the Great Seal Lineage: Namo Mahamudraye. Without pretending to understand what I don't, without deceiving myself, Bless me to meet the introduction, like stone striking bone! Without postponing practice for the sake of this life, Bless me to turn away attachment from within! Without seeking obstacle removal and fulfillment from elsewhere, Bless me to supplicate with heartfelt longing! Without being satisfied with mere intellectual emptiness, Bless me to look at the nature of my own mind!
