Whoever treads on the earth will, after death, fall into the hell of beings who drink molten iron. Thus it is said. Moreover, in the Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness, it says: The mind that is robbed by alcohol, what should be done and what should not be done, does not know, does not discern, and all people do not know. Whoever relies on alcohol, sometimes makes people happy, sometimes makes people suffer completely, and sometimes commits sins. Intelligence becomes extremely foolish, and destroys both worlds. Thus it is said. When drinking, alcohol is delicious, but in ripening it is extremely bitter. Kimpaka forest, Kimpaka, alcohol is what the wise say. Do not think, 'This will not harm me,' the wise should not trust alcohol. When tasted, it seems cool, but in ripening, alcohol causes one to go to hell. When committing sinful deeds, the light mind rejoices, but later when the ripening matures, the evil-minded will suffer greatly. Thus it is said. And so on, endless faults are proclaimed. These are the faults of ordinary people drinking alcohol. Similarly, virtuous kings, ministers, doctors, and other wise people should also abstain from alcohol. In the Near Mindfulness, it says: If kings and those skilled in treatises abstain from alcohol, what need is there to say that ordinary people who drink alcohol become confused? Thus it is said. Even if one is an ordinary person, if one abstains from alcohol, those faults will not occur, and there will be the benefit of merit. In particular, the Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness says: By not relying on drinking alcohol, that person relies on excellence, speaks the truth without delusion, and is born with the joy of closeness. Thus it is said, if ordinary people drink alcohol, so many faults will occur, and if they abstain from alcohol, so many benefits will arise, then the faults of ordained people drinking alcohol and the benefits of abstaining from alcohol, know that they are a hundred thousand times greater than this. Then, the fully ordained layperson, or the celibate layperson, who are now known as Bande (དགེ་ཚུལ།, dge tshul, novice monk) and Gema (དགེ་མ།, dge ma, novice nun), the faults of drinking alcohol are, in addition to the above faults, in the Sutra on the Establishment of Mindfulness, it says: Those who rely on alcohol are the axe of all dharmas, the head of shamelessness, where is the abandonment shown near? The mind that is robbed by alcohol, what should be done and what should not be done, does not know, does not discern, and all people do not

Not knowing the place. And, drinking alcohol always has thirty-six faults. Therefore, whoever abandons faults, that person completely abstains from alcohol. For noble and wise people, it causes great stains. Like scattering Kaba flowers, it is only abandonment. And, it diminishes wisdom and senses, exhausts precious Dharma, destroys pure conduct, this is the only source of the detestable alcohol. And, it completely destroys both worlds, like fire to the Dharma of liberation, it is only burning alcohol. And, those deceived by drinking alcohol, that is a lowly child. Detestable beings fall into hell, suffering pointlessly. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of Repaying the Kindness of the Buddha, it is said, for example, in the time of Buddha Kashyapa, a layperson, because of drinking alcohol, lusted after another's wife and committed adultery, stole another's property and killed. Others asked him: Why did you do that? He said: I did not do it. Like this, drinking alcohol destroys all four precepts. If one drinks alcohol, one will also commit the five heinous crimes. One cannot merely create division in the Sangha. Although this is also driven by past karma, nevertheless, one will experience the ripening of sorrow and forgetfulness. Thus it is said. Nowadays, in monasteries, drinking boiled white alcohol called "Nyer-she" is considered to be without fault, but it is not without fault, but only a small fault. In the Sutra of Eight Dharmas, it is said: The Buddha said to his son, even if one drinks white alcohol, it is the fault of alcohol, it will exhaust countless merits of virtue. And, all of us and all sentient beings should not indulge in drinking alcohol. Needless to say about drinking it oneself. My drinking white alcohol and encouraging others to drink it are both downfalls. Thus it is said. Similarly, even for laypeople and above, brewing, selling, and transporting alcohol also have faults. In the Sutra of the Dharma King, it is said: The Buddha said to his son, is it doing the Dharma of brewing the liquid of madness? Is it making the cause of brewing the liquid of madness? Is it making the cause of selling the liquid of madness? Is it doing the Dharma?
