Okay. In the Tsokhor of Dobipa, it is said: Do not indulge in too much drinking, for excessive indulgence leads to degeneration and no accomplishment. The activities of demons are difficult to reverse. Furthermore, if one thinks, 'Is it not permissible to just touch a drop of alcohol to the tongue?', it is not so. As it is said in the tantras and Tsokhor texts, one should consume and drink to one's fill, just as one enjoys food. Giving one's share to someone who has no share, and pouring alcohol on the ground is not allowed. Padmasambhava, Dobipa, Avadhutipa, and Sangpo Shyinpawa all agree: Do not give the offering alcohol to others, and pouring it on the ground will be punished by vows. Therefore, if the Tsok alcohol is poured out, one will incur the wrath of the Dakinis. If one is a monk or nun, etc., and avoids alcohol and evening meals, thinking it contradicts the precepts, then one will commit the thirteenth root downfall. Sakya Pandita Drakpa Gyaltsen also said that for those who are ordained and bound by vows, if they do not partake of alcohol and evening meals out of fear of committing a downfall, then that itself is the thirteenth root downfall. The teacher Bhava Bhadra said: 'One should cherish the vows as they are. Not upholding them is the thirteenth.' Similarly, during retreat, if one avoids Tsok alcohol and Tsok, one will commit a downfall. In the retreat instructions of the emanation king Songtsen Gampo, given to the great vehicle practitioner Yarldan, it is said: 'When performing secret mantra empowerment and Tsokhor, if one does not partake of Tsok due to being bound by retreat, one will break the vows, so one must partake, and protect the root and branch vows from being broken.' Therefore, whether one is a monk or nun, or a retreatant, no matter how purely one keeps the individual liberation vows, in the assembly of Tsok, one should partake of the share of Tsok and the Tsok offerings. One should not take more than a skull cup's worth, but at least a drop with the little finger, or a small sip, or a pea-sized amount must be consumed. 'Even if one is not equal in other aspects, one should be equal in Tsok.' This is the meaning of what is said. Therefore, getting drunk and falling over from Tsok alcohol, or drinking wantonly, is heedless behavior, and all the faults of drinking alcohol will arise. If one sets up a grand display of Tsok alcohol, but does not dare to taste even a little, and instead pours it into a pit or transfers it, one will commit the thirteenth root downfall of secret mantra. The Sixth Gyalwa said that one's conduct should be like a tigress carrying her cub, with the right balance of tightness and looseness.

As it is said, the gathering alcohol should not exceed the amount of a "bhan", even a drop should be used. Thus, except for the complete Tsogkhor and hand offering rituals, unblessed alcohol, even a dewdrop on a blade of grass, should be abandoned even if it costs one's life. If, like circumambulating sacred mountains, all monasteries allow alcohol and evening meals, etc., the yogi's food for a brief Tsog offering, or after being blessed by a hand offering, only a little should be drunk, not to the point of intoxication. This is a Dharma-abiding action, but if it is not, drinking alcohol in the secular world but being cautious in the monastery, or drinking secretly but being cautious in public, all the faults mentioned above will arise. All deities and protectors, and all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with direct perception, will be ashamed, so it should be abandoned with utmost effort. This was written by A-ra-ga. I confess any faults or transgressions. May all sentient beings, through this virtue, possess happiness and the causes of happiness, and may they be swiftly reborn in Sukhavati.
