Not doing so liberates from the lower realms, and for those with great sins, one hundred thousand stupas are needed, or one million one hundred eleven thousand one hundred twelve small stupas of eight. Alternatively, one thousand hundred small stupas can liberate from the lower realms. If the deceased has extremely heavy sins, then one hundred million stupas are needed, or ten million hundred small stupas. Or ten times the aforementioned eight small stupas, which is one hundred thousand small stupas, is said to liberate from the lower realms. For those with immeasurable sinful power, one hundred million large stupas are needed, which is the quantity of ten small stupas. In the Akshobhya Tantra, regarding the dharani for purifying karmic obscurations, it also says that writing down the name of Akshobhya, reciting the dharani mantra, building one hundred thousand stupas, offering umbrellas, banners, and flags, etc., and then placing them in the ocean or river, will liberate beings from hell and other lower realms. Therefore, placing names in tsha-tshas, or mixing ashes, etc., should be placed in a place where it is not circumambulated. If circumambulation occurs because of its great merit and qualities, it will harm the deceased, as recorded in the story of the Bhadrakalpa Sutra. Regarding the Akshobhya activity tsha-tsha being placed in water, this is its special characteristic, and other tsha-tshas should not be thrown into water, as stated by Je Chökyi Wangchuk, Könchok Bang, and Taktsang Lotsawa. Furthermore, it is said that placing the Essence of Interdependence or Om Ah Hum, etc., in tsha-tshas can purify sins. The Pungzang Requested Sutra says: "For the sake of purifying sins, the Sugata stupa with the Essence of Interdependence should always be made." Similarly, in the practice manual of Thukdrup tsha-tsha, it also says: "Om Ah Hum, the essence of any practice, the Hundred Syllable Mantra, Ye Dharma, etc., should be written, preferably in gold, moderately in silver, and at least in ink, folded and placed inside, and it should be known that it completely transforms into the three supports of body, speech, and mind." In monasteries, it is customary to place various grains, medicines, gems, tea, molasses, and other food essences, as well as blessed relics and powders inside. If these are not complete, seven grains are sufficient. Jowo Je (Atisha) said that there are nine types of tsha-tshas. The first is the virtuous spiritual friend.

To make tsa-tsas to fulfill the wishes of the guru. Second, to make tsa-tsas for parents. Third, to make tsa-tsas so as not to go against the teachings. Fourth, to make tsa-tsas to reduce sins. Fifth, to make tsa-tsas so as not to be influenced by evil spiritual friends and sinful companions. Sixth, to make tsa-tsas for all sentient beings. Seventh, to make tsa-tsas for all sentient beings on the verge of death. Eighth, to make tsa-tsas for all sentient beings in the bardo. Ninth, to make tsa-tsas for all sentient beings. Thus it is said. By praying for whatever one desires, all wishes will be fulfilled. Thus, fulfilling all wishes is the benefit. As for the detailed method of making tsa-tsas, one should know the respective treatises of the new and old schools. Here, I will explain the condensed method that benefits all. From the oral instructions of the Great Compassionate One according to the tradition of the nun Palmo: Digging the earth, blessing the earth, the mantra of འབི་འབིའི་ (Tibetan), the mantra of འདེབས་པའི་ (Tibetan), the mantra of ཕྱུང་བའི་ (Tibetan), the mantra of བཞུགས་གསོལ་ (Tibetan), the mantra of ཡེ་ཤེས་བསྟིམ་ (Tibetan), the mantra of རབ་གནས་ (Tibetan), it is said that reciting Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ (Tibetan, 嗡嘛呢呗美吽, oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ, Om Mani Padme Hum) is sufficient. Similarly, in the Great Compassionate Heart Essence Union Tantra and the Great Compassionate One Secret Union Tantra, it says: Reciting Oṃ Maṇi Padme Hūṃ Hūṃ (Tibetan, 嗡嘛呢呗美吽吽, oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ hūṃ, Om Mani Padme Hum Hum) and making it is sufficient. It is said that other mantras are not necessary. The visualization sequence of tsa-tsas is also: The clay is a pile of five kinds of precious jewels. The empty mold is the Dharmakaya. (Tibetan) is the Sambhogakaya. The tsa-tsa is the Nirmanakaya. Believe in this way. The nature of the tsa-tsa stupa is like a precious jewel, in a vase as large as Mount Meru. Inside the palace, visualize the deity of the mantra being recited, together with the retinue, residing there clearly. Infuse the wisdom being from Akanishta. Light radiates from the deity and the stupa, striking oneself and the object of practice, thereby purifying sins, increasing merit, etc., and meditate that all wishes are fulfilled. Then, the method of offering tsa-tsas to the four elements is: In the Great Compassionate Heart Essence Union Tantra, it says: After that, explain the yoga of tsa-tsas. To the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, recite the heart essence and offer the mold. Furthermore, in the commentary written by Orgyen Rinpoche, it says: To the three elements of fire, water, and wind, show the mold, recite the heart essence and offer it, visualizing the holy body shining, protecting the world, and accomplishing the deeds of sentient beings.
