When falsely accused, practicing patience can purify immeasurable sins. Those who slander are my friends in purifying obscurations. If the poor and suffering are not seen, there is no object for cultivating compassion and no object for giving. Without compassion, there is no way to attain enlightenment. If there were no poor, to whom would one give? These evil ones are friends in attaining enlightenment. For me to attain unsurpassed enlightenment, sentient beings are more kind than the Buddhas. The three perfections of generosity, discipline, and patience arise from the kindness of sentient beings. One should not be angry with those who are kind. Shakyamuni also relied on the kindness of Sudatta, and it is said that he attained perfect enlightenment before Maitreya. Even knowing this, if anger is not pacified, then contemplate the enemy as this life's mother. As contemplated, they are certainly the mother of many lifetimes. One should examine whether harming them is permissible or not. Contemplate oneself as the enemy, and contemplate the enemy as oneself. It is said that transforming one's intention pacifies hatred. The samadhi of loving-kindness is the method for subduing hatred. The Sutra Pitaka is the main object of practice. The Able One descended from the heavens and entered the womb. The twelve deeds should be remembered and contemplated. The root of wandering in samsara is ignorance. From that, up to the arising of action and birth, are birth, aging, and death, etc. Old age and death are called decay and the name of death. From that arise sorrow, suffering, and unease. Because of wandering in samsara, it is the wheel of existence. Since all go into the mouth of the Lord of Death, Yama, the six realms abide in the belly of Yama about to devour them. In order for the Sangha to understand this meaning, there is a custom of painting this on the left door of the monastery. When ignorance ceases, action ceases, from the cessation of birth to the cessation of old age and death. The reversal of dependent origination is the wheel of liberation, to represent the eightfold noble path. There is a custom of painting a white wheel with eight spokes on the right door of the monastery. One should contemplate the arising and reversing of dependent origination in one's mind. And what is that ignorance? One's own mind not knowing itself is that ignorance. Relying on that, one wanders in the cycle of existence. When one's own mind knows itself with wisdom, ignorance ceases. By becoming accustomed to that, one will attain the noble path. One should reduce sleep in the evening and at dawn.

Even if it is said to walk at home, for easy practice, tie the three supports of body, speech, and mind to the pillar. Circumambulate it, and strive to recite. Or at night, visualize a bright lamp on the crown of your head, and focus your mind. It is said that this can lighten sleep and dispel ignorance. This is the root of meditation in the supreme Dharma, and it is the method of meditating on dependent origination as an antidote to ignorance. Alas! From countless eons ago, I have wandered in this endless cycle of existence. Now I still have a heart of stone without any sense of weariness. Countless Buddhas of the past, during the duration of their teachings, I have not been liberated, truly a karmic person. No matter how much empowerment, transmission, instruction, and pith instructions I receive, I cannot liberate my own mindstream, truly a miserable practitioner. After entering the Dharma, even if I have taken the three vows, I am a breaker of vows like rain falling with transgressions. Even if I have practiced the deity countless times, I have not seen even a glimpse of the deity's face, truly obscured by thick obscurations. From childhood until death, I have consumed offerings, and now I am still an insatiable greedy person. Inside, filled with the five poisons of afflictions, but outwardly wearing elaborate Dharma robes, truly a hypocritical pretender. Even if I cannot debate or explain even one scripture, I am still a pretentious person who desires to be learned. I cannot subdue the head of the five poisons even slightly, but I am a hypocrite who claims to be a good person. I have no certainty of where I myself will go, but I have the heart of stone to guide many deceased spirits. I have no certainty of when I myself will die, but I have the blessings to remove the obstacles of others. If I think well, I am truly disgusted with myself. Thinking and beating my own chest. This will destroy pride and arrogance. Alas! I have generated the mind of enlightenment. At that time, all the Buddhas knew and understood. I vowed to place all beings in the state of Buddhahood. All the virtuous deeds I do are for the sake of beings, and for the sake of all beings to have happiness and the cause of happiness, even though I recite this aspiration prayer constantly, I am unhappy when others are high and happy, where does this jealous mind come from? If all beings are happy and joyful, then generate a joyful mind. It is said that by this alone one can obtain the body of Brahma. Jealousy of others, unhappiness when others are high. It is the seed of falling into hell and the Asuras. Thinking like this will pacify jealousy. These are the methods of subduing the five poisons with antidotes, common to both the Great and Small Vehicles.
