In those times, they forgot their own circumstances, and there was nothing to write about. As it says in the biography of Ratna Lingpa: "Because I didn't know I was a fortunate person, without attachment, I was mostly controlled by forgetfulness, and in my youth, I was like a child." Some individuals hide all their virtues, disregard signs and auspicious connections, and mainly demonstrate Dharma practice. Even if they write their own biographies, they are not clear. As Jetsun Milarepa said: "Saying that I am an emanation of Manjushri Mitra, etc., is a slander against me. I attained accomplishment through my own practice." And as Tsongkhapa said: "In general, do not remember birth, remember death." Some praises written by foolish and devout disciples are too exaggerated, so they are abandoned. The praises of poets are difficult to understand, and it is difficult to distinguish whether they are true or poetic embellishments. Therefore, this biography does not have those shortcomings; it is easy to understand and true. So, how can someone like you, a homeless pauper, who is useless in both Dharma and worldly affairs, become a disciple of such a holy person? Although this is true, it is not absolute. As Jetsun Marpa said: "A son is better than a disciple, like the cubs of a lion and a garuda." Just as Pom Drakpa was rejected by the monks because he had no worldly knowledge and did not occupy the seat of Rechenpa. The great accomplished Karma Pakshi became a disciple of someone without power and ability, and said in his will: "This lineage is one where the disciple is better than the guru, this is an auspicious connection. The beneficiaries and activities of all the lineages before me will belong to you alone." Mogchokpa Rinchen Tsondru was like a realized practitioner of Ripukpa, without power and ability. His disciple, the accomplished Kyer Tongba, appeared, and his activities and benefits spread throughout Tibet, and even the Chinese emperor sent large offerings. "My guru is Mogchokpa, so a mandala of offerings must be made there." Therefore, the monks gathered together and made a rule: "It is not appropriate to send offerings to the guru and the seat, it is not appropriate to send them back to Rongchewa instead of Ripukpa." But no one agreed to help.

Jyas Dza. A merchant wearing blue clothes, riding a black horse, and driving many mules came and helped load the offerings, traveling for many days. When they arrived near the hermitage of Mogchokpa, he said, "We are the protectors residing inside Mount Meru. Since you have been feeling unwell since yesterday, I have come to be a friend. Tonight, at a cemetery in India, the master Dhana Saṃskṛta will be holding a feast gathering, and we must go." After saying this, he turned into a whirlwind. The merchant, his servants, and the mule train disappeared without a trace, leaving the goods behind. We had to pick up the goods and transport them. There, we offered the goods to Mogchokpa and listened to the remaining parts of the empowerment and transmission. When we reported how our practice experiences and realizations had arisen, he said, "Now, both of us should stand on the roof." When we were on the roof, he threw his staff and cloak into the sky and said, "Say 'A cow gave birth to a mule,' and shout three times." We did as he said. He said, "Oh, I am like the cow, and you are born like the mule." It is said that the saying "The father is a bull, and the son is a mule" may have originated from this. Therefore, someone like me, who has no ability in either worldly or spiritual matters, although not qualified to be a teacher, does not necessarily mean that I cannot be a teacher because I have not broken my vows. If someone thinks: You have neither ability nor vast knowledge, and those reclusive old practitioners, instead of focusing on practice and virtuous deeds before they die, are busy writing biographies and so on, and you have nothing to propagate the Dharma, yet you pretend to have something, why do you do this? Although this is true, when I offered the vow of retreat to the Vidyadhara Dudul Dorje, he said, 'You old Vidyadhara, there is no need for you to do retreat now. Instead, be the attendant of this tulku, and that is also the attendant of Shakyamuni Buddha, and also the attendant of Orgyen Padmasambhava.' Furthermore, many virtuous spiritual friends and all those who have faith in the Nyingma school and understand merit, praised my previous actions of being the attendant of the tulku and taught that I still need to do so in the future. In particular, the great perfection practitioners from Upper Ngari, Dremoshong, Eastern Kathok, Rongtsen Khawa Karpo, and other places, also praised my previous actions of being the attendant of the tulku.
