Some say that the truth is realized all at once. The explanation of the sixteen aspects of wisdom is based on the expedient of explaining the sixteen aspects of dharma in relation to the four truths. Otherwise, it would contradict the previously mentioned sutras. The Sarvastivadins and others believe that the realization of the truths is a gradual realization of the sixteen, not all at once. If the four truths were realized all at once, then the classification of those who have entered and those who abide would be unreasonable, and it would contradict the three sutras with similes spoken by the Blessed One. Among them, the first sutra is from the Samyukta Agama Sutra. The householder Anathapindika asked: Venerable, what is a monk? Is it gradually realizing the four noble truths, or realizing one? The answer was: Householder, the four noble truths are gradually realized, there is no realization of one. Householder, if someone says: I have not realized the noble truth of suffering, and I will realize the noble truth of the origin, and so on, up to not realizing the noble truth of the path to the cessation of suffering, and I will realize the noble truth of the path to the cessation of suffering. It should be said that one should not speak like that. Why? Because it is impossible and there is no opportunity to realize the noble truth of the origin without realizing the noble truth of suffering. It is possible and there is an opportunity to realize the noble truth of the origin after realizing the noble truth of suffering. Similarly, the other truths should also be applied. For example, it is impossible and there is no opportunity to place the foot on the later one without placing the foot on the earlier one for the foundation, walls, floors, and coverings of a multi-story building or a large building; it is possible and there is an opportunity to place the foot on the later one after placing it on the earlier one. It is explained in this way. The second sutra is spoken to a monk, the meaning is the same as the previous sutra, and the simile is explained by climbing a four-step staircase.

The third sutra was spoken to the venerable Ananda, with the same meaning as before, using the analogy of climbing a four-sided ladder to ascend to the top of a mansion. It speaks of realizing the truths simultaneously, which is said with the understanding of a single act of realization. Because when suffering is seen, its origin is abandoned, and cessation is realized, and these are also because of familiarity with the path. Here, gradual realization refers to the realization of the path of seeing. So, are there many kinds of realization? There are three kinds of realization: the realization of the path of seeing, the realization of the object, and the realization of the act. The first of these is the direct seeing of the sixteen aspects of the four truths by the wisdom of non-contamination. As it says in the sutra: "Monks, whatever is seen by the wisdom without contamination, that is seeing." Therefore, wisdom itself is seeing. The second is that which is associated with wisdom (mind and mental factors). The third is that which is associated with wisdom, and also those that are not associated, such as discipline, characteristics, and attainment. Because they can perform the four acts of knowing suffering, abandoning the origin, realizing cessation, and cultivating the path in the continuum. Therefore, it is held that all three wisdoms are present, and that the associated factors other than wisdom are the latter two, while the non-associated factors together with wisdom are only the last one. These sixteen realizations are of the same ground as the supreme Dharma, and the supreme Dharma is invincible, especially the ground of meditative concentration. Therefore, these also depend on the six grounds. (Even though the lower tolerance and so on depend on meditative concentration, the specific grounds may differ. The determination of the number sixteen is because) the eight tolerances and eight knowledges of these sixteen, in order (because of cutting off the acquisition of afflictions), like driving away thieves, cause harm to what is to be abandoned, because they cannot be obstructed by others, like cutting off a door bolt, because they arise together with the attainment of liberation that overcomes what is to be abandoned, therefore it is intermediate.

It is the path of non-interruption and the path of liberation. A moment is also the moment when the act of generating knowledge of the knowable is complete, not the moment of the end of time. In the Compendium of Categories, it says: A moment of mind should be known as the complete perfection of the arising of knowledge of the knowable. Some people think that Dharma-supreme itself is a harm to what is to be abandoned by seeing, then Dharma-supreme becomes the fault of being only the path of non-interruption and the path of seeing the path of liberation. Some people think that all wisdom is the path of cultivation, then they will also think that the path of seeing is not fifteen moments. (If forbearance can cut off afflictions, then the scriptures say that there are nine kinds of fetters, namely, four kinds to be cut off by the knowledge of the Dharma, four kinds to be cut off by the subsequent knowledge, and those to be cut off by cultivation. If this contradicts the scriptures, then, forbearance is the retinue of wisdom, therefore, what is to be cut off by forbearance is said to be cut off by wisdom, just as if the retinue has conquered, it is said that the king has conquered. What is to be cut off by cultivation is only wisdom, because for what is to be cut off by cultivation, the path of non-interruption is also the nature of wisdom.). Those who do not explain the various classifications of the path of seeing of the higher vehicle here are out of place. Of the sixteen moments of wisdom, the first fifteen moments are the path of seeing, because the truths that were not seen before are directly seen. (If you say so, then this reason is not established on one side of the subject, because wisdom is the object of clinging to forbearance, if you ask this question. Then, those are also the wisdom in the middle of the path of seeing, so consider it in the continuum, or because of not seeing or seeing, that is, the unseen of this person enters into seeing, so until then it is the path of seeing. The subsequent wisdom in the path is the path of cultivation, because it is the result of the creation of the fruit of the ascetic, and because of obtaining eight wisdoms and sixteen aspects, and because of the decline of the previous path, and because of the achievement of the continuum. If this is the path of cultivation, then decline is possible, if you ask this question. No, because it is the antidote to the basis of clinging to the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by seeing, saying so, then all the paths of cultivation are too much to become the path of seeing, so it is unreasonable. Why are the seven wisdoms the path of seeing? Because all see the truth
