When focusing on observing and meditating on the sky, wisdom light appears, like a blazing yellow flame, the wisdom light illuminates everything. The white light burning like the moon is the light of wisdom; the lamp illuminating beings is the sun, a red flame burning; the lamp of wisdom is Rahu (Tibetan: སྒྲ་གཅན།), a black bindu burning like a flame; the great light is reading; the lord of supreme mantra, the king of vidyā mantras, is the Buddha residing in the bindu. These are the six daytime signs mentioned in the 'Manjushri Real Name Sutra', and also the ten signs of Kalachakra. Sixth, universal manifestation, as five signs, is the view of other tantras such as the 'Guhyasamaja Tantra'. In other tantras, the appearance of mirages before smoke, etc., is a mixed account, because they have an unclear intention, so they should be explained in the order of smoke, etc., this is the teaching of the supreme gurus. Thus it is said. Calling these 'signs' does not refer to the signs of the path, but to the fact that one has faith because one directly sees the Tathagatagarbha (Tibetan: བདེ་གཤེགས་སྙིང་པོ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: tathāgatagarbha, Sanskrit Romanization: tathāgatagarbha, Chinese literal meaning: Tathagatagarbha), the self-nature clear light Dharmakaya (Tibetan: ཆོས་སྐུ།), existing in one's own continuum, so it is called 'sign'. Calling the ten signs 'signs', and calling those beyond these 'having signs', is the terminology used by the Drukpa Kagyu (Tibetan: འབྲོ་པ།) gurus, thus it is said. Furthermore, for beginners, through mudras and other paths, after the wind slightly enters the central channel (Tibetan: དབུ་མ།), one can slightly see the true Buddha, that is, the clear light of one's own mind's nature, residing in the essence of the heart like a lamp in a vase. It is like slightly seeing the light from the hole of the vase. When the accomplished yogi breaks the vase, he can see all the lights, thus seeing the boundless clear light. When the flow of twenty-one thousand six hundred winds stops, one can attain the twelfth bhumi, the state of Kalachakra. Clear light is called 'empty form', meaning that it is empty of other mundane dharmas such as fine dust. 'Other-empty' also means this. (Thus it is introduced) Performing the blessing and binding of the mudra is to allow old yogis not to relax their posture, and for beginners to generate experience without relaxing their posture. The so-called 'performing' refers to the channels and winds, binding them by restraining the posture. What is this like? The body is like a city, the channels are like streets, and the wind is like a horse. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Consciousness is like a person riding a horse. If the body posture is not adjusted properly, it's like the person falling off the horse. If it is adjusted, it's like closing the gate. In the 'Kunpang Chenpo's Instructions,' there are six similar metaphors, which were learned from the Lama. Even if the body posture is not adjusted, it may seem like experiences arise, but ultimately there will be no progress, so adjusting the body posture is very important. (A) This is the oral instruction on the visualization of individually (B) gathering. Signs and measures: Signs refer to the ten signs of day and night, etc. Measures refer to the four types of direct perception (pramana), where the yogi, with all six branches, directly sees the clear light Dharmakaya (chos sku) nature of their own mind. This single yogic direct perception includes the other three direct perceptions. Because seeing the clear light is unchanging inner awareness, it is self-awareness direct perception (rang rig mngon sum). Seeing with the physical eye is sense direct perception (dbang po'i mngon sum). Seeing with a non-conceptual, non-deluded mind is mental direct perception (yid kyi mngon sum). This is different from the four direct perceptions of logicians. What is to be purified, the purifier, the result, and the action: What is to be purified refers to the aggregates of wisdom, etc. The cause of purification is the afflictions present in one's own mindstream. The purifier is the profound path of the six branches, such as gathering. The result of purification is the attainment of the state of Vajrasattva (rdo rje sems dpa') and the Buddhas of the six realms. What is to be purified and the purifier are different from others. (D) Then (E) practice the yoga of meditation. In the previously mentioned states of day and night, starting from when the air flows through the left nostril (not necessarily always), with refuge and so on as preliminaries, in a state of possessing the three immovables, continuously meditate on emptiness (stong pa nyid) endowed with all perfections (without interruption). The five branches are: As stated in the scripture: 'Meditation is also wisdom, investigation, joy, immovability, bliss, and one-pointedness of mind.' Like this, directly seeing emptiness, is wisdom; grasping the gross objects of emptiness, is investigation; distinguishing the differences of emptiness, such as stability and instability, is analysis; the mind clinging to and abiding in emptiness, is joy; the mind and emptiness merging into one, obtaining the bliss of physical pliancy, is bliss. Thus, by meditating with the five branches, one will see the clear light simultaneously without stages. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
