He defeated the evil debaters three times with Dharma, thus upholding the teachings. He was revered by all the upper and lower members of his own sect, cleared away the defilements of misunderstanding and misinterpretation, and caused the Buddha's teachings to flourish. Secondly, his activities in Tibet were that Lha Lama Khuwo sent Gya Tson Seng and Naktsang Lotsawa to India to invite Atisha, requesting him to verify the teachings. As a result, he composed the "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment" and other works, thus promoting the teachings. Atisha had many outstanding disciples in India and Tibet, but the most important one was Dromton Rinpoche, who was prophesied by Tara. At this time, it would be appropriate to speak of the greatness of Je Rinpoche, but it has already been said elsewhere and I am afraid it would be too much, so I will leave it at that. The second is the greatness of the Dharma. In general, Atisha wrote many treatises, but the most complete one, like a root, is the "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment." From "The Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment" to "more excellent than other sects," the characteristics of the subject matter of the "Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment" are explained, thus illustrating that the key points of this treatise have four great qualities: the quality of understanding all the teachings without contradiction, the quality of all the scriptures appearing as key points, the quality of easily obtaining the Buddha's intention, and the quality of great misdeeds naturally ceasing. In short, if we summarize and speak of the four great qualities that have been spoken of, the first is that the Buddha, in order to adapt to the minds of various kinds of beings, superior and inferior, taught many different scriptures. But all of these are for the purpose of leading beings to higher states and definite goodness, and ultimately to be understood as a method for attaining Buddhahood. Some of these are the main path, and some are the branches of the path. How, then, do the Hinayana collections become a method for attaining Buddhahood? Because from the Hinayana collections, the common stages of the path of both the Great and Small Vehicles are taught extensively, thus becoming a method for attaining Buddhahood. And those teachers who only seek peace, which is not common, first ripen the minds of those who are to be tamed, and ultimately become a cause for entering the Mahayana, thus also becoming a method for attaining Buddhahood. Therefore, all the Buddha's scriptures are the main and branch methods for accomplishing Buddhahood.
