Generally, confession requires prior admission, but this is not always the case, as admission and confession can sometimes occur simultaneously. Formal confession also has two aspects: the number of confession recipients and the remedies for pārājika and sanghādisesa offenses. The first case exists because serious offenses belonging to the pārājika category need to be confessed before six monks, serious offenses belonging to the sanghādisesa category need to be confessed before five monks, minor offenses belonging to the pārājika category need to be confessed before four monks, and other offenses need to be confessed before one monk. The second case is divided into sanghādisesa and pārājika offenses. The first case is further divided into two types: the method of remedying sanghādisesa offenses for special and non-special individuals. The first case exists because if a monk who knows the three pitakas and is mindful uses intercourse, rubbing, and excretion on a monk, confessing before one monk with name and lineage can purify the offense. As it is said in the sutra: "One who has shame, holds the sutras, holds the vinaya, holds the matrikas, and is wise, confessing before one person, will rise from the sanghādisesa offense." The second case exists because there are two ways: remedying the concealed offense of sanghādisesa through gross offenses, and remedying the actual sanghādisesa offense. The first case is further divided into two: accepting and practicing covering. The first case has six aspects: where to accept covering, by what means, for what purpose, for how long, by what ritual to accept covering, and what is in the explanation. The first case is established because it is before a sangha possessing three qualities. The second case exists because it is done by a monk who does not possess special qualities but has eight common qualities. The third case exists because it is for purifying concealed offenses. The fourth case exists because it lasts until the number of concealed offenses. The fifth case has three aspects: it is done through preparation, main practice, and conclusion. The first case exists because during the sangha assembly, preparation and respectful conduct are required. The second case exists because it is done through the four karmas. The third case exists because it is done with skillful means. The sixth case exists because self-

Because it is moved from such a place to a lower place, it is said that way. Secondly, there are also six aspects to the practice of moving: in what place, with what support, in what location, for what purpose, for how long, and in what manner to practice. First, it exists within that boundary, practicing for those who have the same name and view. Second, it exists in what should be practiced by the one who receives the move. Third, it exists in the very place where the move is received. Fourth, it exists for the purpose of eliminating hidden faults. Fifth, it exists according to the number of days received. Sixth, it exists in abandoning five special behaviors and accepting five inferior behaviors, etc. First, the five are: not taking the respect of others as one's own, not generating thoughts of equality or superiority with others, the place of the guru, actions that belong to punishment, and temporarily abandoning the qualities and proximity of the teacher. Accepting the five inferior behaviors is: in the inner room, at the time of teaching the Dharma, at the time of holding an umbrella, at all times, and in the evening, how one is allowed to act should also be done in the same way. Secondly, there are two ways to restore the remaining main substance: making joyful and restoring through expulsion. The first also has two: receiving joy and practicing. The first has six: just like at the time of moving, there are six, such as in what place. The first, second, and fifth are the same as before. Third, it is necessary, for the sake of arising expulsion, and for the sake of eliminating the remaining main substance. Fourth, there is a difference in the number of days, a monk should receive joy for six days, and a nun should do it for half a month. Sixth, it exists in that the Sangha must be made joyful, so it is said that way. The practice of joy is also explained accordingly. Secondly, there are five ways to restore through expulsion: from what place to receive expulsion, with what support, for what purpose, with what ritual, and explaining the sounds, etc. First, it exists in that it should be received from a Sangha with a complete number of members. Second, it exists in that it is received by the monk who practices joy. Third, it exists in one's own

This is to eliminate the remaining faults that are the actual root downfalls. The fourth has three aspects: the preliminary, the main part, and the conclusion. The first is easy. The main part is done through the four karmas, and in the end, praise should be given. The fifth is the explanation of the term: because it is brought from a lower place to the place of its own nature, it is said that way. Second, regarding the remedy for the four root downfalls, there are two situations: what to do if a concealed root downfall occurs, and the method of remedying a non-concealed one. The first situation is that because it cannot be remedied, one must be expelled. The second situation is that there are two ways to remedy a non-concealed occurrence: taking the precepts and practicing them. The first has six aspects: where to take the precepts, with what basis, for what purpose, for how long, with what kind of ritual, and the explanation of the term. The first aspect is that one should take the precepts in the Sangha. The second aspect is that it is done by a monk who is qualified to restore the Bhikshu vows and has committed a root downfall. The third aspect is that it is to eliminate the root downfall that is without concealment in one's own continuum. The fourth aspect is that it is for as long as one lives. The fifth aspect is that it is done through the preliminary, the main part, and the conclusion. The preliminary is as before, and the main part and conclusion are done through the four karmas, and the conclusion is to summarize. The sixth aspect is that because one takes vows to abandon the five superior practices and learn the five inferior practices, it is said that way. Second, regarding the practice, there are also six aspects: where, by whom, when, for what, how long, and in what manner to practice. The first aspect is that one should practice in a Sangha that possesses qualities. The second aspect is that it is done by the one who has taken the precepts. The third aspect is that it is similar to taking the precepts. The fourth aspect is that it is to eliminate concealment. The fifth and sixth aspects are as before, but because it is practiced after the precepts have been blessed, it is said that way. There is a special case: when one attains the state of an Arhat, one will be liberated from it. Second, there are four bases for the occurrence of timely and untimely events.
