Due to the power of pure faith. Thus it is said. In the Ratnakuta Sutra, it says: Faith is the best of treasures, wealth, and feet; like a hand, it is the root of accumulating virtue. Thus it is said. In the Sutra of Ten Dharmas, it says: Faith is the best of vehicles; it is certain to arise for those who guide. Therefore, a person with intelligence should rely on following with faith. Thus it is said. In the Manjushri Root Tantra, it also says: For a person without faith, difficult dharmas do not arise; like planting seeds in hot ashes, sprouts do not grow. The root of faith is always Dharma, spoken by those who see the meaning of Dharma. Thus it is said. Second, there are two parts: the number of circumambulations and the manner of circumambulation. First, what is the difference between the completion and non-completion of the number of circumambulations? Although there are many detailed explanations for this, I will briefly say something. In general, there is no limit to the number of circumambulations, because it is permissible to do countless circumambulations. For example, just as prostrations and offerings can be done as much as possible, and the number of deity recitations can be done as much as possible, and the benefits are even greater. However, here the number of circumambulations is determined. For example, in the sadhana texts, there are many different explanations for the number of deity recitations, but most often it is said to be one hundred thousand or three hundred thousand, etc. Here, by analogy to saying one hundred thousand, the number of circumambulations is also based on one hundred thousand. That is, whichever monastery it is, the main object of veneration is the throne, lotus seat, or cross-legged posture of the main deity, measured by height. Whatever the height, the length of one complete circle is the distance to circumambulate. When one hundred thousand circumambulations are completed on the circumambulation path, it is considered one complete circumambulation. That is, although it is said that one hundred thousand circumambulations have been made around the main object of veneration, not only that, but each of those with equal faith in the main object is also offered one circumambulation, and for those smaller than the main object, the number of circumambulations is even greater than that. For example, the main object of veneration in this Chone Monastery is the central Buddha in the Guhyasamaja Temple. The number of circumambulations based on Shakyamuni Buddha is currently about two thousand. Likewise, each monastery has its own.

For the main object of veneration, one can perform a hundred thousand circumambulations. The length of the circumambulation path must be measured. The number of circumambulations does not depend on the importance or fame of the object. If the main object is large, the number of circumambulations is greater; if it is small, the number is smaller. However, the length of the circumambulation path can also affect the number of circumambulations. Therefore, no matter which monastery it is, if one can complete one circumambulation of the entire monastery, one must circumambulate the monastery once. It would be best if one could perform the circumambulations according to the number mentioned. Otherwise, one need not be拘泥to completing a certain number; no matter how many times one circumambulates, it will bring benefits, as can be known from the scriptures quoted above. Then, one might wonder, is circumambulation an offering? Yes, circumambulation is an offering, because it is an offering of respect with the body. The commentary on the Ornament of Clear Realization says, "Prostrations and circumambulations are offerings of respect." Therefore, in many sutras and tantras, it is mentioned "circumambulating the Bhagavan three times," etc. Although the number of circumambulations is mentioned, the specific number is not clearly stated. The number of circumambulations mentioned now is recorded according to the oral instructions of the lineage of masters. Second, the method of circumambulation is: Although some treatises of the Nyingma school have various explanations on this, they will not be elaborated here. Although it is not clearly stated in the new translation treatises, just as when prostrating, one visualizes one's body manifesting into many bodies to prostrate, or one visualizes oneself and all other beings prostrating together, and when reciting mantras, one visualizes oneself and all other beings reciting together, it will produce greater effects. When circumambulating, visualizing one's body manifesting into many bodies, or visualizing oneself and all other beings circumambulating together, will be more beneficial and effective. During circumambulation, one can recite any scripture, but it is especially suitable to recite the Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable Mantra, Confession, Akshobhya Dharani, etc., which are used to purify obscurations, as well as reciting Mani mantras, etc. In addition, it is said to recite the transformation mantra of circumambulation, that is, when circumambulating the object of veneration, recite: namo daśa diśi kāla sarva ratna trayāya, namaḥ pradakṣa supradakṣa sarva pāpaṃ biśodhani sa.
