If one sees the object of veneration and creates a barrier in the mind, Kungawo, then the fruit of that virtue is nirvana. I say, reciting nirvana, one will eventually reach the other shore of nirvana. Furthermore, sons of noble family, the root of virtue from offering to the Tathagata is one that possesses great fruit and great benefit. Sons of noble family, those who are placed in such a state, like planting in a great field of merit, will not be exhausted even after a long time, even after hundreds of thousands of billions of kalpas. The fruit of all those roots of virtue is nirvana; one will attain nirvana. From there, whatever is offered to the Buddha, unless one attains nirvana, will not be destroyed, will not be exhausted, will not be depleted, even after a long time. Furthermore, in the Sutra Requested by Kingly Wisdom, it says: Those who wish to obtain all qualities should make offerings to the Three Jewels. Furthermore, in the Earth-Essence Sutra, it says: All happiness and joy in the world come from offering to the Three Jewels. Therefore, those who desire happiness and joy should diligently practice the Three Jewels. And so on, there are many sayings. The benefits of prostration are also included above, but to give a brief example: In the Sutra Requested by King Bright, it says: Those people who bow their heads and prostrate to Buddha stupas or images will become the objects of great reverence among gods and humans. When it is necessary to step over the shadow of a great stupa, one should recite the mantra Oṃ Vajra Vega Akara Mahūṃ (藏文：ༀ་བ ཛྲ་བེ་ག་ཨ་ཀྲ་མ་ཧཱུཾ།，梵文天城体：，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ vajra vega akara mahūṃ，汉语字面意思：Oṃ, Vajra, Swift, A, Kara, Ma, Hūṃ) and think of passing under the shadow of the stupa, and then proceed. Otherwise, it will be a fault. Some may wonder, just as there is a complete count for one circumambulation, is there also a complete count for one prostration? Although I have not seen a clear explanation on this, just as one circumambulation, if one dedicates one circumambulation to one deity, it will result in a hundred thousand circumambulations, if one prostrates to a stupa a hundred thousand times, can it be considered one complete prostration? This question should be considered. It is said that at all times, and especially during festivals, performing prostrations, offerings, and circumambulations will have particularly great benefits. There are two aspects to this: identifying the festivals and the time when they occur. First, in general, there are three auspicious days: the eighth, fifteenth, and full moon days. Specifically, there are: the festival of the Teacher's entry into the womb, the festival of birth, the festival of renunciation, the festival of enlightenment, the festival of turning the wheel of Dharma, the great festival of miracles, the festival of the descent from the gods, the festival of nirvana, and many other festivals. Among these, the four festivals of enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, the great festival of miracles, and nirvana are the most famous. Second, these days are special days blessed by the Buddha, so whatever virtuous deeds are done, the power of increase is great. It is said that during eclipses, the changes are also great. Regarding the time when these festivals occur, there are different opinions, but if we summarize our own view, it is: from the first to the fifteenth of the first Tibetan month is the festival of miracles, the seventh of the fourth month is the birth, the fifteenth of the fourth month is the enlightenment and the demonstration of nirvana, the fourth of the sixth month is the festival of turning the wheel of Dharma, the twenty-second of the ninth month is the festival of the descent from the gods, and the twenty-fifth of the tenth month is the festival of the passing away of Je Rinpoche. During these auspicious days and festivals, if one commits evil deeds, the fault will be particularly great, so one should avoid them. Second, how to make offerings? What items should be offered? Offer whatever offerings one can afford.
